A stampede of footsteps can be heard pounding all across the country at the moment, and no one knows why.

Many initially believed a group of hippos who escaped from the zoo was to blame, but we now have a concrete answer.

It’s the influencers. 

Why? Because the Museum of Ice Cream opens today.

Museum of Ice Cream Opens Today (19 Aug)

Three months after it was announced, the Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC) has finally opened its outlet in Singapore.

That’s right kids and adults young at heart, all your childhood dreams have come true.

Beginning as a pop-up in New York in 2016, MOIC soon expanded to other American cities after becoming an Instagram sensation and has now opened its first-ever international outlet here in Singapore.

“Singapore is a vibrant tourism hub and melting pot of diverse cultures, which makes it a fitting place for us to expand our footprint,” said Mr Pirakash T, head of APAC, MOIC Singapore.

As Mr Pirakash noted, tickets for weekend slots sold out almost immediately after they went live.

So, what’s so special about this place? What exactly is it?

Ice Cream-themed Multi-sensory Installations

Despite what it sounds like, the Museum of Ice Cream is not a place where you’ll see old cups and cones of ancient ice creams from the past in glass cases with sub-zero temperatures.

I mean, who the heck would want to see that?

Instead, as it says on its website, it provides “fun, multi-sensorial expressions of ice cream that cater to the appetites of our generation”.

Perhaps the most exciting of their attractions at their Singapore outlet is the sprinkle pool, which is the largest MOIC sprinkle pool to date.

It’s exactly what it sounds like – a pool full of the type of sprinkles used to top ice cream, except they’re oversized and inedible.

Visitors can take a dive into the sprinkle pool to feel like a kid again diving into a ball pit.

The 60,000 square foot property houses a host of other attractions as well, including:

• The Museum of Modern Ice Cream, where visitors can discover their inner Picasso
• Scream’s Diner, where you can jam to some old tunes on a real jukebox
• Inflatable, a huge, pink bouncy castle
• Playspace, a play area with a pink twist on our famous dragon playground

But that’s not all.

Opening Weekend Will Have Nostalgic Childhood Games

To commemorate Singapore’s 56th birthday, MOIC will also organise a variety of nostalgic childhood games and activities during its grand opening weekend from 19 Aug to 22 Aug.

Here, guests can take a trip down memory lane and play traditional games such as Chapteh and Five Stones.

They can also get temporary National Day-themed tattoos and enjoy a Singapore Sling Boba Cocktail at the bar.

MOIC Singapore has released more tickets till December, but they’re expected to sell out quickly.

So if you do want to take a couple of shots for Instagram at Singapore’s first Ice Cream Museum, you can head here to make a reservation.

Tickets are pretty steep, however; it’s S$42 if you go alone, S$40 if you go in a group of two or three, and S$38 if your group has four or more people.
