Never count your chickens before they hatch, especially in a fighting ring, because your opponent might accidentally step on one of the eggs.

Counting eggs anywhere but on a farm is generally a bad idea, actually

My point is that arrogance, especially in competitions, rarely ends well. I’m sure you’ve seen videos of athletes celebrating too early, like this gif:

Yes, it’s incredibly satisfying to watch.

One Wing Chun ‘master’ learned a similar lesson when he taunted an MMA fighter before a fight.

A rather arrogant man

Now, while Wing Chun sounds like an Asian’s answer to KFC, it’s actually a traditional Southern Chinese Kung fu style and a form of self-defence.

One of its self-proclaimed masters, Ding Hao, recently got knocked out by a Chinese MMA fighter after taunting him.

He also thinks rather highly of himself.

He labelled himself one of the “four great Wing Chun masters in China” and has even compared his fighting skills to Bruce Lee’s.

And he can’t seem to accept losing either.

Just a few months ago, Ding Hao got into the ring with Xu Xiaodong, an MMA fighter. Needless to say, Xu destroyed Ding Hao in less than a minute.

He didn’t come out and congratulate Xu though, oh no, he claimed he lost because he didn’t eat enough rice.

Yes, and I’m not playing for Manchester United this weekend because I had one egg prata instead of two this morning.

He emphasized the point, adding that Xu only beat him because he was vegetarian, and later said Xu was too scared to have a rematch with him.

Yes, this guy’s not exactly humble.

So, when he got into the ring with another Chinese MMA fighter, A Hu, people were rubbing their hands with glee, anticipating his knockout.

And they were not disappointed.

Knocked out in 72 seconds

Viewers who were unfamiliar with the two might have picked Ding as the favourite in the fight.

He did, after all, outweigh A Hu by 12 kilograms and was 5 centimetres taller.

Armed with overconfidence as always, Ding got into the ring and taunted A Hu a little.

But, he would soon regret that.

Ding tried engaging Hu with Wing Chun techniques but ended up taking numerous punches to the face.

You can watch the match below:

A Hu then hit Ding with a few Muay Thai knees, which must have made Ding seriously question his decision to get into the ring again.

After this constant thrashing, Ding gave up on his Wing Chun moves and simply tried to low block A Hu’s roundhouse kicks with his arms.

At that point, A Hu probably realized he left the stove on in his house or something and decided to end that fight right there. He landed a hard kick on Ding’s face, knocking him out instantly after 72 seconds.

That’s, by the way, less than two minutes.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a prick eat his words, is there?

Netizen reaction

Netizens, of course, found Ding’s quick knockout hilarious.

Hopefully, this will teach the self-proclaimed Wing Chun ‘master’ some humility.

Or maybe one should eat more rice. It’ll make you win.
