If you’ve been following the latest update on the Wuhan coronavirus in Singapore, you’re probably worried.
2 New nCoV Cases On 10 Feb; 1 is a Certis Cisco Officer Who Was on Duty at Chingay 2020
Of the two confirmed cases, one is a 37-year-old Certis Cisco officer who first experienced symptoms on 31 January 2020.
He went to a GP on 2 February 2020 and was isolated four days later on 6 February 2020 in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Yishun.
Between 31 Jan 2020 (symptoms showing) and 2 Feb 2020 (went to the doctor), the officer went to work.
He was on duty at Chingay 2020 which took place on 31 January 2020 and 1 February 2020.
Previously, it was reported that it wasn’t known what duty he had during the event, or whether he had put on a mask when he was on duty (since he had symptoms on that day).
Well, now, it is.
PA: Not In Close Contact With Performers Or Audience
People’s Association (PA) were the ones to organise the Chingay parade.
On 10 Feb 2020, they sent a message out to Chingay participants, performers and grassroots leaders.
They said that on both days when the officer was on duty, he had his temperature taken and did not show signs of being unwell.
They added that the officer was not in close contact with the performers and audience during these two days.
Deployed To Places With Limited Contact
On 31 Jan 2020, the officer was stationed near the junction of Raffles Avenue and Bayfront Avenue to direct traffic.
The next day, he was deployed as a roving officer at Youth Olympic Park. His duty is to relieve other officers who go on break.
The PA said that performers do not access the area and there was limited public movement within as well.
Prepared To Assist However They Can
The PA said that they are working closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and is prepared to activate contract tracing if required.
The officer had also gone to Certis Cisco Centre in Paya Lebar.
Certis Cisco said that they are giving all necessary assistance to the police officer and his family.
