When the Ministry of Health announced that all travellers, including Singaporean residents and long term pass holders, will have to serve a stay-home notice (SHN) when they arrive from 21 March, onwards, people were pissed.
How can you expect me to stay at home for two weeks? What about my work and more importantly, my parties?
But then some of them received notifications of where they would be serving their SHNs, and their anger magically melted away.
Why?
Well, after seeing some of these places, you’d want to be served an SHN too.
List of Hotels that Some SHN People Stay in & They Are All High-SES
According to CNA, all travellers arriving in Singapore will now have to submit a health declaration online before proceeding with immigration clearance.
They will then be sent an email informing them of their stay-home requirements before their arrival.
While some people have to sadly serve their SHN at homes, bored out of their minds staring at their computer screens, many are living it up in lavish rooms in 5-star hotels.
Students who are returning from the US or UK, for example, have to serve their stay-home notice at certain designated hotels.
Hotel 81, maybe? Fragrance Hotel, perhaps?
No, you wouldn’t believe some of the hotels on the list.
Be prepared to drool as these are some of the hotels those people would be staying in:
Grand Park Orchard
Grand Hyatt Hotel
JW Marriott Hotel
Mandarin Orchard
Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa
Village Hotel Sentosa
The Elizabeth Hotel
Now, if you’re not jealous enough, according to TODAYonline, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it will arrange for the returnees to be taken directly from the airport to the hotels and the returnees will have their own room and toilet, and have all their meals provided.
And, these arrangements will be all provided for free.
This is not for all Stay-home notices, however.
According to gov.sg, since its mandatory for all returnees from the US or UK to serve out their SHN in dedicated hotels, the government will absorb the cost of providing these dedicated hotels.
So, if you’re asked to serve out your stay-home notice in a nice swanky hotel for two whole weeks, it may just be free.
That means that if you’re a couple who’s come back from one of these two countries you could technically be given a free two-week staycation.
That doesn’t mean that you should travel, of course.
As you know, Singaporeans have been advised to defer all travel abroad, and those who return with will have to pay full hospital charges if they are admitted for coronavirus-related treatments.
So, as luxurious as these rooms look, you should probably just stay at home.
Reader: Then why the heck did you show me all these nice hotels with those magnificent rooms?
To show you that life isn’t fair, dear reader.
Reader: I can’t go clubbing anymore, so I already know that.
