The Circuit Breaker has been nothing short of a ‘calamity’, considering how it revolves primarily around the 3Cs:
- Cannot meet your precious friends and loved ones
- Cannot go out to jalan jalan
- Cannot BBT – Big Black Teh
And yet, despite the impossible restrictions in place, Singaporeans understand where the government’s coming from.
And so the vast majority tolerated it and complied with the given instructions, with perhaps just a few murmurs of complaints. Because you know, Singaporeans must complain no matter what.
But one thing’s certain: there will always be those who try to test the system. Which is also a notion that would almost definitely fall in line with what ‘spunky’ recruits have been doing since the end of time.
As the army has taught us, one should only test the system if they’re ascertained not to get caught, or run the rudimentary risk of fluctuating the golden rule the system was implemented for in the first place. Because only so can the lawmakers turn a blind (literally) eye to the fluctuation, and even then the perpetrator’s walking a tightrope.
What about the alternative, you wonder. What happens if you violate both restrictions, big, big time?
Well, lest you’re wondering that…
I guess the following topic headline will offer a little semblance of what’s to come.
Man Sneaked into Friend’s Condo Near Bukit Batok to Stay a Few Days; Tested Positive for COVID-19 After That
According to Zaobao, notices were put up at Signature Park apartments on Monday (27 April), informing residents that a Covid-19 case has happened in the immediate vicinity.
Which is admittedly bad enough considering the risk of infection and everything, but what’s even worse is that the patient in question had “secretly stayed” over at his friend’s house.
Apparently, the ‘infiltrator’ had set foot into his friend’s condo after being driven in by car. The stay allegedly lasted for “a few days”.
And for the record, the generous-sounding friend was not the owner of the apartment, but a tenant.
I Strict, You Strict, Everybody Strict
Needless to say, the apartment complex has since implemented more stringent security measures to prevent such an incident from happening again (or at least within the CB period).
Residents must now display their ID cards to gain entry into the condo. Their access pass rights have been taken away, with the notion of “no visitors over” now an extra-enforced rule.
Additionally, the condo has conducted a thorough cleaning of its premises after the incident. Urgent contact tracing is also underway to identify the personnel who may have come into contact with the aforementioned patient.
And What’s Gonna Happen To The Violator?
According to Mustsharenews, the violation will be investigated by relevant authorities.
If found guilty, both parties may face charges in court.
For first-time offenders, they could potentially face fines of up to $10,000 and/or jail terms of up to 6 months.
Penalties could reportedly vary according to the number of cases arising from this incident.
Tolerate a Bit, Folks
And with that said, just hold on, folks.
Granted, it could get a little hard to be away from your beloved friends and family for so long, but hey;
At the very least, it’s for a greater cause.
So just hold on tight for a little longer;
As long as we persist in our efforts, the end will surely be nigh.
