It certainly hasn’t been a good start to the year of the Rat.
On the first day of Chinese New Year, MOH has announced that there had been no new confirmed case on noon.
But come 10pm, a 4th Wuhan virus case is confirmed.
Here’s what happened.
MOH Confirms 4th Wuhan Virus Case in S’pore; Had Stayed in Sentosa Hotel & is in Sengkang Hospital
Before anything, it should be noted that the lockdown of Wuhan started on 23 January 2020.
A 36-year-old man from Wuhan had landed on Singapore with his family on 22 January 2020—one day before the Wuhan lockdown.
The man showed no symptom on that day, and passed the temperature screening. However, on the next day, he started to develop a cough.
The man had only gone to Sengkang General Hospital A&E the next day (on 24 January 2020, which is Chinese New Year eve).
Did he stay near Sengkang?
Apparently not; the man had stayed in Village Hotel Sentosa, a rather luxury hotel in Sentosa.
After being warded and isolated, tests showed that he was infected with the Wuhan coronavirus on 25 January 2020, 10pm.
Details of where he had been on the days that he was in Singapore haven’t been revealed, but MOH has started epidemiological investigations and contact tracing to identify individuals who had close contact with the patient.
Currently, all four infected patients are all from Wuhan and had come to Singapore on a holiday.
But of course everyone’s wondering: Why’s the fourth victim in Sengkang General Hospital instead of a hospital nearer to Sentosa or tourist spot?
Image of Compass One With People with Surgical Masks & Suits Surfaced Before 4th Victim is Confirmed
On Chinese New Year eve, at about 9:23pm, a large discussion took place in Hardwarezone forums: apparently, an image of people in surgical suits were allegedly spotted in Compass One.
Surprisingly, people were crowding the area.
It’s of course unknown if that is related to this case; nevertheless, with the third victim having taken public transport and been to public places like Orchard, it is now even more pressing to follow MOH’s advice below:
