Najib & Rosmah Will Be Featured in a Netflix Documentary That They Don’t Want to be Featured In

According to Straits Timesformer Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor are due to appear on an episode of the Netflix documentary series, Dirty Money.

The series concentrates on cases of sham and corruption, and offers a personal view into the scandalous side of the business industry. The pilot episode aired on 26 Jan 2018, and the series has since been renewed for a second season.

The first episode of the second season will air on 11 March 2020.

Dirty Money provides an up-close and personal view into untold stories of scandal, financial malfeasance and corruption in the world of business,” a description of the new season states on Netflix.

“This season offers a look inside Jared Kushner’s real estate empire, the Wells Fargo banking scandal and Malaysia’s 1MDB corruption case.”

From 2009 to 2015, an estimated US$4.5 billion (S$6.3 billion) was allegedly misappropriated from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) state investment fund by its officials.

Najib has been implicated in the process, and is currently undergoing trial for charges of corruption and money laundering.

The controversy over the 1MDB scandal led to the ruin of Najib and his Barisan Nasional coalition in the country’s general election two years ago.

Meanwhile, Rosmah is also facing court proceedings: the 68-year-old former first lady is facing graft charges over her inclusion in a solar hybrid project in Sarawak.
