Son Fulfilled Mother’s Dying Wish of Seeing Him Get Married on 10 Oct

10.10 isn’t just a popular date for online e-commerce platforms to break records in sales.

It’s also the most popular date in Singapore this year for couples looking to get married.

876 couples tied the knot on this special day but that’s not the key point of this article.

Out of the 876 couples, one of them had a meaningful story to share.

Son Fulfilled Mother’s Dying Wish of Seeing Him Get Married on 10 Oct

Mr Chia Fu Yong and wife, Ms Tan Mei Xuan, planned their marriage and tied the knot within two months.

The reason?

Because Chia wanted to fulfil his dying mother’s wish to see him married and happy.

Madam Ng was diagnosed with terminal cancer in Jul 2020.

Not knowing how much time she had left, the couple, with help from Ambulance Wish, an organisation that fulfils the last wish of terminally ill patients, said their vows on 10 Oct 2020.

Madam Ng, who is bedridden, was present at the solemnisation ceremony because of help from the charity.

Ambulance Wish came to know about Madam Ng’s dying wish after a nurse at Dover Park Hospice alerted them to her plight.

Had Proposed At The Beginning Of The Year

Chia had proposed to his then-girlfriend, Ms Tan, at the beginning of 2020.

While they hadn’t set a wedding date, he had always thought that it’ll be held next year in 2021.

However, things changed when his mother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The doctor had said that his mother had one year left to live.

Not leaving anything to chance, the couple fast-tracked their plans and decided on 10 Oct since it was a date that both of their parents liked.

Mother Was Very Happy

It wasn’t an uneventful journey, both for Madam Ng and the newly-wed couple.

Two weeks before the ceremony, Madam Ng’s condition allegedly deteriorated badly and she almost couldn’t make it for the event.

Fortunately, she recovered enough to be present at the ceremony although she was in pain.

Despite all that, Madam Ng had reportedly whispered about how happy she was, both to the nurse and the volunteer from Ambulance Wish.

A 34YO “old-virgin” S’porean was desperately looking for a boyfriend and surprisingly, she really found one online. But the intentions of the man will make you cry. Prepare tissue paper to watch this video based on real events:

The ceremony was held at Marina One and a dinner was organised in one of the restaurants within.

Fulfilling The Final Wishes Of Terminally Ill Patients

According to the Ambulance Wish Singapore Facebook page, they were registered in Singapore as a charity for only half a year.

Within that period of time, the charity managed to fulfil the final wishes of 14 individuals.

On 10 Oct, they fulfilled two wishes.

One for Madam Ng and another for Serene who wanted to celebrate her tenth year anniversary with her beloved husband.
