If you’re concerned with the number of Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore (51,531) and the daily numbers reported over the past few days:
This next piece of news might just help you worry a bit less.
There Hasn’t Been Any New Unlinked Community Case For The Past Three Days
If you were to look past all the numbers and zoom in on the trend, there’s actually been a drop in the number of community cases.
It has dropped from an average of nine over the previous week to an average of four per day over the past week.
But wait, there’s more.
It’s not just the average number of cases per day; even the average number of unlinked cases has dropped as well.
It was an average of 5 cases per day in the week before.
Over the past week, it has dropped to an average of 2 cases per day.
On 27, 28 and 29 of July 2020, there were no unlinked community cases. In fact, to add to the happy occasion, they managed to uncover links to 1 previously unlinked case.
Which is really important because if you’ve downloaded our app and read this previous article, you’d know that unlinked cases matter as much as the number of Covid-19 cases reported.
Here’s a short explanation:
When you have unlinked cases, it means you don’t know whereabouts in Singapore is the coronavirus spreading; and if you don’t know where it was spreading, you cannot contain and eliminate the source.
In short, you might just have a Resident Evil scenario on your hands.
Current Situation In S’pore
The number of imported cases in Singapore has increased but due to Singapore’s current Covid-19 measures, the authorities managed to stop the coronavirus adequately.
All travellers coming into Singapore has to serve a mandatory Stay-Home-Notice for 14 days.
On 29 Jul 2020, the four imported cases which consist of a Singaporean returning from India, a work pass holder who just returned from the Philippines and two student pass holders from India and Indonesia, were all tested positive during their SHN period.
So far, Singapore’s imported cases were detected during their SHN period, meaning they had not yet mixed with the general population in Singapore.
So unless someone with the coronavirus pulled off an eight-day disappearing act like this lady:
We should be pretty safe.
On 29 Jul 2020, 205 more Covid-19 cases have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
Previously, the interagency task force announced that they’ll finish clearing all the dormitories in August 2020.
As of 29 Jul 2020, they have closed 24 dormitory clusters and considered them clear, housing only workers who tested negative, or have recovered from the coronavirus:
