Love Mario and his friends?
Perhaps Isabelle and the other friendly villagers of Animal Crossing kept you company during the COVID-19 circuit breaker.
Nintendo fans, here’s some good news for you.
A Nintendo pop-up store will open in Singapore for a limited time.
Moreover, this is the first time a Nintendo pop-up store will be opening in Southeast Asia.
Nintendo Pop-up Store To Open in Singapore
The store will be located in Jewel Changi Airport and open from 17 November 2023 to 1 January 2024.
It sounds like the ideal location to do some Christmas shopping.
The Singapore store will feature merchandise from all-time favourite games like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and Pikmin.
Such merchandise was only previously available at Nintendo Tokyo, Nintendo Osaka and Nintendo Kyoto stores.
And not all of us have the money to travel to Japan just for a Pikmin plushie.
Notably, more original merchandise items will only be unveiled closer to the opening date, but the ones currently displayed on the official website look enticing.
Highlights
Six types of exclusively designed postcards will be available to shoppers who spend $80 or more at the store in a single transaction to celebrate the Nintendo pop-up store in Singapore.
If you put the front and back images of the postcards side-by-side, it looks as if Mario and his friends are running to enjoy Singapore.
Unfortunately, shoppers cannot choose the design.
Furthermore, the promotion will end when the stock runs out.
Nonetheless, the designs of the postcards still look fantastic.
For those with a Nintendo Account, remember your password when you visit the store.
Players who check in to their Nintendo Account at the venue can collect unique stickers.
Each person can only check in once per day and will receive one random sticker of the 18 designs available.
To redeem these exclusive stickers, shoppers can log into their registered accounts and check in to the store by displaying the QR code issued onto a tablet device that will be located at the store’s entrance.
In addition, a collaboration campaign with Super Mario PIPE AROUND THE WORLD will also take place at Jewel Changi Airport.
Details of the campaign have yet to be released, but the campaign’s poster already looks pretty exciting.
Address
Mark your calendars because the pop-up store will only be around for about six weeks.
It will be located at level 04-220 & 221 of Jewel Changi Airport, Airport Boulevard, Singapore 819666.
You can stay tuned for more updates by checking out Nintendo Singapore’s official website.
The big question is: Will there be an official Nintendo Singapore store on our shores in future?
Netizens online have suggested an official Nintendo Singapore store as a possibility.
After all, the company did choose to have its first Southeast Asia pop-up store here.
Furthermore, there are plans to have a Super Nintendo World expansion at Universal Studios Singapore (USS) soon.
The news was first announced in 2019, so I don’t blame you if you have forgotten.
The expansion is set to add more than 40 acres of land to USS, the smallest park thus far.
Resort World Sentosa previously stated that the project will be completed in phases.
Thus, new attractions would gradually open across Super Nintendo World in USS each year.
If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen any tangible changes, it’s most likely because of the COVID-19 pandemic delaying construction.
However, all hope is not lost.
With the closure of USS’s Madagascar Zone in 2022, there’s now more space to set up Minion Land and Super Nintendo World.
The two new areas come under Resorts World Sentosa’s expansion plan that was announced in 2019, known as RWS 2.0.
Super Nintendo World was previously set to open between 2020 and 2025.
Even with the delays caused by the pandemic, fingers crossed that the attraction will open by 2025.
