Today isn’t a good day as well.

As of 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 30 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

29 of them are imported cases, and 1 is a community case.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 59,059.

Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 9 cases in the week before to 3 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 6 cases in the week before to 1 case in the past week.

Community Case Reported Yesterday Works as a Para-Veterinarian at the Singapore Police Force

The sole community case reported yesterday (14 Jan) works as a para-veterinarian at the Singapore Police Force (2 Mowbray Road), and his job mainly involves tele-consultations with dog handlers.

He developed a fever on 11 January, and sought treatment at a general practitioner clinic on the same day, where he was tested for COVID-19 as part of the  enhanced community testing to test all individuals aged 13 and above who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection at first presentation to a doctor.

He had remained at home on medical leave until his result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 13 January and he was conveyed in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. His serological test result has come back negative, indicating that this is likely a current infection.

Currently, it’s unknown how he had contracted the virus.

There are currently 41 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit.

202 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.

In the meantime, if you’ve not, you should download the TraceTogether app so that contact tracing can be done easily. If you’re worried about your privacy, watch this video to the end:
