The past few days have been exceptionally stressful with the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases.

• 6 Apr 2020: 66 Covid-19 cases
• 7 Apr 2020: 106 Covid-19 cases
• 8 Apr 2020: 142 Covid-19 cases
• 9 Apr 2020: 287 Covid-19 cases
• 11 Apr 2020: 191 Covid-19 cases
• 12 Apr 2020: 233 Covid-19 cases

Are we really?

Maybe not.

Recent Spike COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Might Seem Worrying But a Chart Shows Community Spread is Constant

According to the daily update provided by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on 12 Apr, the number of cases might seem worrying but there’s a reason for the phenomenon we’re seeing nowadays.

Take a look at the chart provided:

Split into three different segments, the chart separates Covid-19 cases into three different categories: Imported cases, Community cases and Work Permit Holders & Dorm Residents cases.

For imported cases, it spiked up around mid-March due to the large number of people returning to Singapore but has since gone down to zero.

For community spread, it increases along with the number of imported cases but has since become moderated in recent days due to safe-distancing measures.

As for the sudden spike of cases of work permit and dormitory-related cases, they’re expecting it to continue increasing as they’re testing more aggressively at the dormitories.

In short, while the numbers don’t look like it, we’re actually doing pretty well so far.

CB Needs 11 Days To Fully Take Effect

PM Lee Hsien Loong has been hard at work updating Singaporeans with whatever he managed to find out from other countries.

One of his posts spoke about how he talked to his counterpart at New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern:

He mentioned that New Zealand only started to see positive results on Day 11 after implementing their own measures to force people to stay home.

So if everyone in Singapore were to preserve and do our part, it’s likely that we are able to see some good results on Day 11 too.

So Don’t Worry And Keep It Up

For those who followed the safe distancing measures and tried to stay home as much as possible lah.

As for the rest who decided that safe-distancing measures aren’t for them, please fall in line or we’ll all suffer together as a nation.

Right now, the numbers are scary but the community spread is kept constant. This means that the majority of cases are kept isolated at dorms away from the rest of the community.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that we can neglect safe-distancing because Covid-19 has shown that, if given the chance, it’ll spread quickly and viciously.

Plus, the government’s going to come down hard on anyone who doesn’t follow the system.

Just like how this Singaporean allegedly took the chance to cheat the government of $500 when they relaxed their rules to help more people.
