It’s one thing to go without your mask on public transport.

It’s double the whammy to drink openly on the same public transport.

But to drink and cough without your mask on public transport?

They say third time’s the lucky charm, but in this case, it was sheer triple villainy at play.

Troubled Times

Amidst these tumultuous times, it’s understandable that we would have reservations about sitting next to a coughing individual.

Yeah sure he or she has their mask on, but… you know.

Yet, to sit next to a coughing individual who is drinking and holding an unlit cigarette in his hand?

That, my friends, is a sheer violation.

And unfortunately, it took place in real life.

Man Spotted Drinking & Coughing On Train With Cigarette in Hand, Triggering Netizens

On 6 September 2021, Instagram page @sgfollowsall posted a video on the social media platform, wherein a man could be seen performing the following tasks:

  • Was not wearing his mask
  • Was drinking from a bottled beverage
  • Was holding an unlit cigarette in his hand

And to make things worse, he could be seen coughing as well. And not just in any direction either.

He repeatedly coughed in the direction of the man on his left.

Dayum, even King Arthur would have bolted then.

The incident allegedly transpired on an East-West Line (EWL) MRT, which was making its way to Buona Vista station.

You can watch the 1:33 long video here.

Netizens React

As one would’ve expected, netizens did not react kindly to the incident.

Several wondered what the man was doing, and questioned why nobody was intervened.

Others suggested that he was “high”, with one name-dropping Snoop Dogg in the process.

Some called for the authorities to do something about it.

And last but not least, one saluted the brave individual who was being coughed at.

“I like how calm the guy beside him was even though he coughed directly at him,” the Netizen said. “Patience Sir.”

For violating COVID-19 laws by not wearing a mask in public, one can be sentenced to up to six months’ jail, fined up to $10,000, or both.

For drinking on a train, one could face a fine of up to S$500.
