For a period of time in March, various food items kept getting recalled. From eggs to croissants, food items were recalled for various reasons. So much so that we wonder, “Are any of the food products safe?”

Suddenly, it stopped and things went back to normal. Or at least the new normal.

And we can purchase our food items without worrying if the things we eat will give us liver damage.

Now, we’re back to recalling food items.

But at least this one doesn’t have high levels of arsenic in it.

SFA Recalling Eat Real Quinoa Puff Products Due to Undeclared Milk Allergens

Singapore Food Agency (SFA) recalled several Eat Real Quinoa Puff due to undeclared milk allergen.

Although the presence of milk allergen does not pose a food safety issue to most people, it is a huge food safety issue for those that are lactose intolerant and those that are allergic to milk.

After all, we don’t want to spend most of our time hugging the toilet bowl, right?

Here are the Eat Real Quinoa Puffs that were affected:

• Eat Real Quinoa Puff (Mediterranean Flavour)
• Eat Real Quinoa & Kale Puffs (White Cheddar Flavour)
• Eat Real Quinoa Puff (Jalapeno & Cheddar Flavour)

All of the affected products have their best before dates up to and including the end of May 2022. These products are also all from the United Kingdom.

Those that have purchased the affected product and are allergic to milk should not consume the product. For the rest of the population, feel free to consume it.

The recall is ongoing.

Previously Recalled Food Items 

Previously, we have several food items that were recalled as well. Some of them also contain milk allergens while some of them contain “poisonous” nuts.

The Wilton Rainbow Chip Crunch Sprinkles was recalled for not declaring milk as a potential allergen. 

The Picard Rolled Yule Log Chocolate Tonka Bean Cake which was imported from France by Redmart was recalled for containing tonka beans. Tonka beans contain high levels of coumarin chemical, which can cause liver damage.

Excessive levels of a food-borne bacterium were found in the Crab Brand’s Black Pepper Seed . The food-borne bacterium, bacillus cereus, can be found in soil, vegetation and the intestinal tracts of insects and animals.

According to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), consuming food containing bacillus cereus will cause abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting.

Singlong Foodstuff Trading’s popular Ground Peanut Powder  with Sugar was recalled due to high levels of aflatoxins. Aflatoxins can damage the genetic information within a cell, causing mutations or even cancer.
