During Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), many of us not only missed dining out at coffee shops, but also seeing drunk uncles arguing there in the night.

After all, after Marina Bay Sands and Sentosa, it’s our most famous tourist attraction.

Now that it’s legal to dine in at F&B establishments again, angry uncles have returned to their natural habitat and are engaging in their favourite pastime: arguing.

And this particular uncle expressed his anger in a truly unique way.

‘Very Angry’ Man Caused a Ruckus & Refused to Wear Mask at Sembawang Coffee Shop

A video of a bare-faced man shouting in a coffee shop has been making the rounds online after it was shared on Stomp.

The incident occurred at Block 406 Sembawang Drive on Tuesday afternoon (6 July) at around 2.30pm.

In the 37-second video, a man can be seen talking to another patron at the counter of the drinks stall.

Their voices aren’t loud enough to be audible until the 8-second mark, when the man shouts: “I’m angry. I’m very angry”.

It sounds like something a character in a badly written novel would say, as most people would express their anger in other ways, but the man really did say that. Therapists all over the world are applauding his direct communication, though.

After shouting, the man continues to talk to the patron for another 30 seconds, before the video finally ends.

Throughout the encounter, the man was bare-faced and holding his face mask in his hands.

Great, now your hands are protected from COVID-19.

Witness: Man Was Creating Public Nuisance

According to the man who shared the video, the man was creating a public nuisance and disrupting the business in the coffee shop.

“He was yelling at the coffee shop lady,” the witness told Stomp.

At that point, a young guy walked over to talk to the man and asked him to stop, the witness said.

“However, the man refused to walk away and also refused to put his mask back on, not until the police came.”

The police said they were alerted to a dispute at the coffee shop at 2.47pm. However, the parties involved were simply advised to keep the peace.

No further police assistance was required, they said, as there was no assault nor threat.

The man who was “very angry” likely escaped punishment for not wearing a mask because he was smart enough to put it back on just when officers arrived on the scene.

We still don’t know what the man was angry about.
