Lest you’re unaware, it’s alleged that taxis and PHV drivers are throwing in the towel and returning their cars due to the COVID-19 outbreak. One of them even said that he’s earning merely $10 a day—that’s less than an NSF.

Maybe they should have gone to MBS, because according to a viral Facebook video posted this morning, people were fighting over taxis.

Or are they?

If you’re here just for the video, here it is:

But you’re not. You most probably have seen it, given that the video has been watched over 297K times in less than 20 hours.

Instead, you’re here for the answers.

Which we’ll give you shortly.

Before that: what happened?

I’ve upped the volume of the video, watched it a million times and even drank some milk to clear my head, but the video is like LOST: every new second poses more questions than answers.

It started with the guy in white fighting with a guy who looks like he was just out from prison.

And back there, a girl in black is holding back a guy in red.

At this moment, someone was heard shouting, “I said, 1, 2, 3, 4, Hi Five!”

I think that’s what’s mentioned lah.

And then, for no reason, the red guy and black girl joined in the fight.

The guy in red lost and lied on the ground, and a romantic fight between the girl, white-shirt guy and prison-shirt guy occurred.

During this period, someone shouted, “I said, ‘Contract’!”

The guy in red finally had a Phoenix Down, but it seems like his HP is still too low to continue in the fight, and he could only helplessly look at the three people having fun together.

By then, the white-shirt guy has evolved into a shirtless guy, and he left the party, letting the prison guy to have a romantic time on the ground.

Finally, someone summoned a guardian force, and a security guard appeared to stop the fight.

Then a LOST moment occurred.

The shirtless guy said something like “Don’t hit the floor leh,” and the prison guy said this:

“I never hit your girl.”

Wait. Wait. Wait.

OH.

Wait.

I get it now.

See this again.

And this again.

The white-shirt-turned-shirtless guy wasn’t fighting. He was protecting the girl!

We solved a LOST problem!

And then another plot twist happened: the guy in red pointed and shouted to the shirtless guy, “Eh I want you lah!”

Too romantic.

As the shirtless guy walked off, the red guy continued his love confession: “Nb ch**b**. I want you lah!”

We didn’t get to see the ending as Robert B. Weide appeared.

So, to summarise what happened: little bengs fighting for no reason lah.

Now, jokes aside, let’s address the elephant in the room:

Why Didn’t Anyone Stop the Fight?

The fight went on for a while before a guard came in like a cannonball to stop it. If not for him, these four jokers might be in hospital now.

So why didn’t anyone else help out?

The reason why people decided to buy popcorn and watch is simple: according to the bystander effect, the people around didn’t feel pressured to take action, since there are other people around. Simply put, it’s the mindset of “I not the only one around mah, they also there, they help lah.”

The second reason is a “monkey see monkey do” mindset: majority of people are mere observing, so people don’t want to be the “extra”.

But if someone can time travel and read this article before the fight, and was in the area, we might not have the opportunity to watch this love story, because…

Psychologists Suggest that Knowing About Bystander Effects Would Break this Phenomenon

You see, people take no action because it’s a subconscious reaction: they’re frozen and just do what their heart tell them to do, and that is to merely observe.

However, psychologists suggest that if you do know about the Bystander Effect, you’ll break this subconscious reaction and help out.

‘Coz deep in our mind, we might have always wanted to help; we’re just locked by the Bystander Effect.

So yeah, you see lah. Tell you all to download the Goody Feed app liao, we spoke about this in one of our earlier articles before one leh.
