Being drunk should never be a valid excuse for misbehaviour. Nor does being rich with a $1.5 million property.

Kinda like when you have a wild night out partying, and at the end of the night, you start throwing up like you’re the Merlion.

You can’t possibly blame the drinks when you’re the one who voluntarily ingested it right?

Which brings me to this case:

Drunk Police NSF Charged For Choking Policeman & Hurling Vulgarities

It was the first day of the year, or as we like to call it: New Year’s Day. A full-time national serviceman with the police, Mohammad Jeffry Lui Azman was behaving like a drunkard, and the police officers who were working to control the crowd noticed his… behaviour.

Doing what police officers are supposed to do, they spoke to Jeffry and his friends. But nope, Jeffry was not having it.

In a blink of an eye, Jeffry shouted profanities at one of the police officers and even asked him if he wanted to partake in a brawl.

No, not Brawl Stars. The kind of brawl that involves punching one in the face. To be more specific, he challenged the police officer to a fight.

It isn’t clear if he waited for the police officer to respond, but he then shoved the officer to the ground and choked him.

Hey, this guy doesn’t play fair, he caught him off guard. Perhaps he thought he was already in a wrestling match.

Was And Still Is Serving National Service; Faces Three Charges

At the time of the incident, Jeffry was serving his National Service as an assistant training instructor at the police’s Special Operations Command. He is still a full-time national serviceman

He has since pleaded guilty yesterday (1 November 2019) for causing hurt to a public servant.

He also faces another two charges of being drunk in a public place and for verbally abusing a policeman, which will be considered when he is sentenced on 26 November.

Pretty expensive price to pay for a drunken night out.

The Incident

So I’m sure you’re curious to know what exactly went down that night.

Well, Jeffry had visited Club Nexus in Oriental Plaza which is located around Chinatown with two friends at around 1am that fateful day.

They shared three towers of beer and a bottle of cognac.

That’s a lot of alcohol.

They then went outside to smoke at 3am but while his two friends talked to each other, Jeffry thought it would be a good idea to approach another group of smokers.

He then began to “mumble incoherently while staring at one of them”. Well I’m glad he still has his multi-tasking skills intact.

He then became agitated and raised his right fist at the other man. The group then tried to push Jeffry away and his friends came over to apologise for what he did.

And.. this was when the policemen lai liao.

A team of four policemen noticed what was happening. They were in the area to make sure that the partygoers leaving Oriental Plaza left “in an orderly manner”.

Jeffry showed zero signs of being “orderly”.

Jeffry proceeds to shout, “Police big f***” at Staff Sergeant Kenneth Ong. He then said that the policeman had a small body before asking him to fight.

Ironic, given that he’s a police officer himself.

He charged towards Officer Ong, fell on him and choked him for around five seconds before the other officers pulled him off and arrested him.

Jeffry’s Lawyer Said He Accepts Responsibility For What He Did

Jeffry’s lawyer said that he accepted responsibility for what he did and was “in a severe state of intoxication which led him to behave out of character”.

The lawyer also stated that “prior to committing the offences, he had originally intended to sign on to the police force… he has made a personal vow never to drink alcohol again.”

Oh man, with that record, he might have to look for another job liao.
