The good news is that the number of new daily COVID-19 cases in Singapore is now usually lower than the number of discharged patients.
The even better news is that there’s only one new confirmed case today, and he’s linked to another confirmed case.
The bad news is that there are now five people in ICU due to COVID-19.
Here’s the announcement today.
1 New COVID-19 Case in S’pore Today (21 Feb); 1 More in ICU Now
Today, there’s only one new COVID-19 confirmed case, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 86.
The new patient is a 24-year-old Singaporean who’s linked to the woman who had both dengue and COVID-19. He had his symptoms on 14 February 2020, and had gone to see two GPs on 16 and 18 February 2020. He then went to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital on 19 Feb and was immediately isolated in the hospital. He was tested positive yesterday.
The man is a student from Singapore Institute of Technology, but he has not been to the school since the onset of symptoms. According to Dr Leong Hoe Nam, an infectious disease specialist in Singapore, a person who has COVID-19 has a lower chance to have passed the virus to another person as he’s “less likely” to cough or have nasal discharge.
