Today isn’t a good day for Singapore.
Other than having one more COVID-19 death, one more cluster is found as well, and it’s a bridal salon in Yishun.
The good thing is that at least today’s number is lower than yesterday’s, and the imported cases are more than local cases.
Here’s today’s announcement.
42 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (29 Mar); 1 New Cluster in a Bridal Salon
Out of the 42 cases, 24 of them are imported.
These Singapore residents had come back from Europe, North America, Middle East, ASEAN and other parts of Asia.
As for the 18 local cases, 8 of them are linked to previously confirmed cases or a new cluster.
The new cluster is a bridal salon in Yishun Industrial Street 1, which now has 3 staff members being tested positive. 2 of the cases were reported yesterday while 1 is reported today.
The bridal salon has responded in an Instagram post, saying that they have done a thorough disinfection of the studio on 27 March 2020, and will be closed for two weeks. They would be contacting their clients soon.
10 of the local cases have no links yet.
Also, MOH has provided new information about a case that was announced yesterday: she’s a nurse at Sengkang General Hospital. The 42-year-old Singapore PR first exhibited symptoms on 24 March 2020, and was tested positive on 27 March 2020 afternoon. She’s now isolated in the hospital she works in.
Updates on Current Cases
All in all, Singapore now has 844 confirmed cases.
212 of them have fully recovered and are discharged while 19 are in ICU. 3 have passed away from complications.
The conditions of the remaining patients are stable or improving, and for this group, 206 of them who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at Concord International Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and the Community Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC.
As of noon today, MOH has identified 11,779 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 4,178 are currently quarantined, and 7,601 have completed their quarantine.
