It’s 2019, and in a few weeks, we’d be welcoming 2020.
Telling someone in 1992 that video games have become mainstream would be akin to telling your grandparents that people have become millionaires with YouTube.
The world has changed, and so has video games.
But what games should we be looking forward to in 2020? Well, here are the five video games I think are ones to look forward to in 2020.
Warning: the writer has obvious bias to certain games and is unapologetic about it.
Halo: Infinite
Oh, we’re starting off big.
Like, massive.
If any of you owned an Xbox, Halo is a game you probably would’ve touched at one point.
This sixth main entry into the series is slated to come out in the fourth quarter of 2020 so fans do have some waiting time.
But the wait will likely be worth it especially since it will finally refocus on the titular Master Chief.
Steam even released a collection of Halo games under the handle ‘The Master Chief Collection’ for all those who want to catch up.
Or simply revisit the glory of past titles.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Is it time to express how much I love the Final Fantasy series?
Yeah, it is.
One of the greatest role-playing games in the late 90s (and possibly of all time), fans have been teased of this remake as far 2014.
And the game is finally being released on 3 March 2020!
Taking a backseat from its traditional turn-based counterpart, VII remake takes a slightly more action-based route while keeping its dynamic plot and characters.
This is a game I personally cannot wait for and urge even newer Final Fantasy fans to try!
I’ve even managed to try the demo and the wait is killing me.
Now, can you believe that the original was released in 1997? It felt like yesterday.
The Last Of Us II
It’s hard to really describe The Last Of Us unless you’ve actually played the game.
On the surface, it seems like another post-apocalyptic zombie game.
But the 2013 Playstation exclusive boasts an extremely enriching story about love and life coupled with strong third-person action gameplay made for a tearful experience.
Resisting mad urge to say more.
While initially scheduled for a 21 February 2020 release, the game has now been delayed to 29 May.
It may seem disappointing to some but I say let good games take their time to be made.
Cyberpunk 2077
Before we get into it, I just want to say to all the readers, “You’re breathtaking!”

Positive meme checked? Alright.
Hyped up at the Microsoft Xbox E3 2019 press conference, this video game spin-off of a tabletop title is set to release on 16 April 2020.
The game is set in a futuristic world based in Night City, California. Footage shows streets littered with robots, crime and a whole lot of intense shooting game action.
Funnily enough, there is not too much information regarding this game.
But April comes a lot faster than you think so maybe we’ll get the full cake soon.

Animal Crossing New Horizons
I’m not leaving this article without representation for the Nintendo Switch.
And the game picked is actually a lot more popular than I initially gave credit for.
Fans of the series may have gotten several spin-offs over the years but a mainline Animal Crossing title has been absent since 2012.
Well, the wait is over.
Despite its delay from 2019 to 2020, Animal Crossing New Horizons will now have a release date on 20 March 2020!
Sometimes you just want a chilling game where you can just take your time and perform the activities you want or explore the in-game world and interact with its cast.
This game gives you just that.
Not The Whole List
Needless to say, a five-games list is too little to cover every game coming out next year.

Please don’t hate me if your anticipated title is not here.
I’m pretty curious as to what games you guys are looking forward to as well!
