If you thought that royalty was safe from COVID-19 in their castles, you were wrong.
Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for COVID-19, but thankfully is only experiencing mild symptoms.
Positive For COVID-19 But Expects To Continue Light Duties
Buckingham Palace stated on 20 February: “The queen had today tested positive for COVID-19. Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week.”
They also added that the Queen will continue to receive medical attention, and follow all appropriate guidelines.
True to Buckingham Palace’s statement, the Queen soon released a statement of her own, praising the British women’s curling team for their gold-medal performance in Beijing.
“I know that your local communities and people throughout the United Kingdom will join me in sending our good wishes to you, your coaches and the friends and family who have supported you in your great success,” she said.
The 95-year-old Queen is the world’s oldest and longest-reining monarch. Earlier this month, she marked 70 years on the throne, thus being the first British sovereign to do so.
Her health has been thrown into the spotlight ever since last October, when she spent a night in the hospital and was advised by doctors to rest.

“God Save The Queen”
The news that the Queen had tested positive came as a shock to many concerned Britons, especially given the monarch’s age.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that he was sure he spoke for the nation when he wished the queen a quick recovery and return to good health. Many politicians also tweeted “God Save The Queen”.
Well-adored by the British public, there has been an outpouring of support for her, whether online or in the message boards in the London Underground.
We wish the Queen a swift recovery!
