Lest you’re unaware, Malaysia is one of the worst-hit countries in Southeast Asia when it comes to COVID-19.
This came after a religious event attended by 16,000 people happened in late February.
As a result, a restricted movement order was announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin which bans its citizens from travelling overseas and foreigners from entering Malaysia for as long as two weeks which began on Wednesday.
He also encourages Malaysians to “just stay at home” during these two weeks so as to stop the virus from spreading further.
Sounds like pretty simple instructions right? But some people just can’t follow it:

It’s not okay to go against the advisory issued and still go ahead with travel plans even though logic and common sense scream at you that “this is not the best time to travel!!”
But this couple allegedly did not give a shit. In fact, the Malaysian couple travelled to South Korea right before the movement control order was implemented.
According to World Of Buzz, a Twitter user posted a picture of a Malaysian who took to social media to share that she was travelling to Seoul, South Korea on 18 March.
So why did she risk her life and that of her loved ones just to fly to Korea?
Well apparently, her reason for the rash act is that she had always wanted to travel to South Korea.
The worst part of it all is that she did not think that she or her husband did anything wrong.
Husband Defended Himself & Says To Netizens: “I Hope You All Die By The Virus”
When netizens criticised them for travelling during the COVID-19 outbreak and potentially falling ill and infecting others, the husband defended their actions with zero guilt and plenty of anger.
World Of Buzz translated it to:
“This is for those who just thoughtlessly insult us as though they’re right. I hope you all die infected by the virus. You guys can only talk but don’t think of your actions. If we were to die, it’s already been written. Don’t blame others for how you’re gonna die!”
Besides cursing the netizens who criticised him, he also pins it all to fate and said that if you die don’t blame others.
It’s Better To Be Safe Than Sorry
I’m sure a lot of us have had to cancel our travel plans or postpone them due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation.
My colleague has booked a flight to Mars but had to cancel it before of COVOD-19.
There is also a common belief that we might survive the virus because we are young or healthy, but we also have to think about the elderly or the vulnerable whom we might infect in the process.
At the end of the day, it’s still better to be safe than sorry. There’s no harm in waiting to travel at a later date when the virus situation has died down.
The Situation In Malaysia
On Thursday, Malaysia reported 110 new COVID-19 cases which brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 900, according to Health Minister Adham Baba.
Out of the new cases, 63 are linked to the religious gathering at a mosque in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
As many as 16,000 people were present at the event which was also linked and resulted in infections in countries like Brunei, Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand.
Another example of why it’s better to “just stay at home” as he so aptly puts it.
The restricted movement order might also be extended by “maybe another two weeks or even longer” if the situation worsens.
