Did you know that for the upcoming Presidential Election, you can use both your ePoll card and digital NRIC from the SingPass app to vote? You will still receive your physical poll cards. However, some residents of Tanjong Pajar may receive two poll cards, each with different serial numbers.
It seems there’s a new number to consider for this week’s 4D draw
The Elections Department (ELD) found itself in a “sticky situation” akin to a double order of Singapore’s famous satay, as they apologised today (24 Aug) for a printing mishap.
Due to an oversight, a printer dispatched test prints alongside the correct poll cards, leading to nearly 10,000 voters receiving a double serving of cards.
ELD mentioned that feedback poured in from some voters of Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency (GRC), who were “seeing double” when they received two poll cards, each with distinct voter’s serial numbers (VSN).
The printer, Toppan, had inadvertently sent out test prints of poll cards to a sum of 4,803 households. This translates to 9,822 voters from the Tanjong Pagar GRC getting an unexpected bonus.
Breaking it down, 9,354 of these voters received two poll cards with differing serial numbers, while the remainder got two cards with matching details. The voters caught in this mix-up are slated to cast their votes at St Margaret’s School, Tanglin Community Centre, Farrer Park Primary School, and Delta Sports Hall polling stations within the Tanjong Pagar GRC.
“ELD is in the process of reaching out to affected voters to inform them of their correct VSN, ” ELD said.
For those wanting to double-check, they can refer to their ePoll card on Singpass, which remains accurate and untouched by this printing hiccup.
For those with the extra card, they can simply discard the erroneous or duplicate one. If they find themselves in a “knot” and need assistance, they’re encouraged to dial 1800-CALL-ELD.
“We apologise for the confusion caused to affected voters,” ELD said.
In a broader perspective, the updated voter rolls for the Presidential Election 2023 have swelled to 2,709,455 electors. This is a hearty increase of over 55,000 individuals from the 2,653,942 electors who were on the list during the last general election in 2020.
