After reading the headline, you should understand why the authorities have imposed such strict measures for people coming in to Singapore even if they have no symptoms.
Today, 14 new cases were reported—the highest figure reported in a day so far.
9 were imported cases, and thankfully, the other 5 cases are linked to a cluster or previously confirmed cases.

14 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today (15 Mar); 9 Are Imported
9 of the cases reported today are likely imported cases. They are
- A 48-year-old male Singaporean who had been in Indonesia from 4 March to 13 March
- A 65-year-old male Singaporean who had been in Thailand from 7 March to 10 March
- A 30-year-old male Singaporean who had been in Germany from 28 Feb to 1 Mar and 5 Mar to 6 Mar, and also to Czech Republic from 1 Mar to 5 Mar
- A 22-year-old male Spanish national who lives in Singapore and has been in Spain from 9 March to 13 March
- A 53-year-old male Singapore PR who had been to France from 10 March to 12 March
- A 41-year-old French national who works in Singapore and had been to France, Spain and the Philippines
- A 60-year-old Singaporean who had been to the US from 28 Feb to 7 March and Australia from 7 March to 13 March
- A 63-year-old Singaporean who had been to Indonesia from 3 March to 7 March
- A 49-year-old Dutch national who came to Singapore
2 of the new cases are from the SAFRA Jurong cluster. They are a 55-year-old female Singaporean and a 50-year-old male Singaporean. That means the cluster now has 47 cases.
3 other cases are linked to previously confirmed cases: they are a 30-year-old Singaporean who is linked to Cases 142 and 21, a 29-year-old Singaporean who is linked to Case 208 and a 28-year-old female Filipino national who works in Singapore and is linked to Case 204.
The Filipino national is a teaching staff at MY World Preschool at the Leng Kee branch (52 Lengkok Bahru). As of time of writing, the preschool has not responded to this case.
Updates on Confirmed Cases
All in all, there are now 226 confirmed cases in Singapore.
105 of the patients have fully recovered and are discharged, and 13 are in ICU now.
The conditions of the remaining patients are either stable or improving.
As of noon today, MOH has identified 5,472 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 1,817 are currently quarantined, and 3,655 have completed their quarantine.
Lest you’re not aware, MOH has advised all people to defer all non-essential travel board. Yes, not to any country at all.
