Jay Chou is returning to Singapore about two years after his last concert here in December 2022, which was, well, not exactly a fun experience for many of those who were there.
According to concert attendees, his last show here was an absolute letdown.
Jay Chou’s Concert In 2022 Was Not Well-Received
Concert goers said the famous Mandopop singer’s voice was not clear when he last performed in Singapore.
Fans were also not pleased that many of his friends shared the stage with him as lengthy magic performances and Chou’s guests, who sang more than he did, made up most of the concert.
Fans complained that they had paid money to hear Chou sing, not to watch magic and listen to his friends sing.
Many were also unhappy with their complimentary light sticks which were supposed to change colours in sync with the music. Some fans said they were of inferior quality and failed to light up.
In response to criticism from those who attended his Singapore concert, Jay Chou proceeded to throw shade at those who complained.
During his concert in Malaysia, he threw shade at his Singapore fans twice with sarcastic remarks.
Initially, his fans in Singapore only complained about his concert, but after he threw shade at them, complains about him as a person came pouring in, saying he was “unprofessional”, “childish”, and “easily triggered”.
But, perhaps, Jay Chou can hope to reconcile with his fans during his concert here this October with his next concert.
Jay Chou To Perform In Singapore On 11 To 13 October 2024
This October, Jay Chou returns to Singapore with his CARNIVAL World Tour.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with his concert here in 2022, that concert was also part of his CARNIVAL World Tour. In other words, his 2022 and 2024 concerts follow the exact same theme.
Reader: I think other singers like Coldplay and Taylor Swift should do that too because I didn’t win the ticket war… please come and perform again.
During his 3-hour long concert, Jay Chou will be performing some of his most famous songs such as 告白气球 and 晴天.
After performing in Singapore from 10 to 13 October, the singer will head to Malaysia to perform on 26 October.
Many Not Excited
It seems the wound is still fresh, and many Singaporeans said they will not be attending his concerts here.
Even some of his long-time fans say they still feel offended by what happened after his last show and have decided to not attend the Taiwanese singer’s concerts anymore.
Some Will Be Attending
While there are many expressing their disappointment in the singer and say they will not attend, Jay Chou still has loyal fans who are planning on going to his concert.
“He deserves (a) second chance,” one commenter said.
So, what do you think? Will you be giving Jay Chou another chance this year and attend his concert?
