Iran Deputy Health Minister, Who Coughed & Appeared Weak on TV, Tested Positive for COVID-19

A month in and it seems like the COVID-19 situation is showing no signs of cooling down.

In fact, things have gotten worse, especially in South Korea.

In total, the number of confirmed cases is now over 2,000 in South Korea, while the virus has claimed the lives of 13 people.

Things aren’t looking so swell in Iran either.

Iran Deputy Health Minister, Who Coughed & Appeared Weak on TV, Tested Positive for COVID-19

In fact, Iran Deputy Health Minister, Iraj Harirchi was coughing and appeared visibly weak and in physical distress on TV while assuring the public that the COVID-19 situation was under control.

A day after he took part in a news conference where he coughed and was constantly wiping sweat from his forehead, he admitted that he himself had tested positive for the COVID-19.

Despite him testing positive for the virus, he has still displayed high hopes that they will overcome the virus.

“We will definitely be victorious against this virus in the next few weeks,” the minister added.

Assures The Public That They’re Not Downplaying The Situation

Thus far, Iran has reported a total of 245 confirmed cases with 26 deaths.

That said, the deputy minister has denied covering up or downplaying the scale of the COVID-19 situation.

Iranian officials are also refusing to implement quarantine in areas that are affected by the outbreak as it is believed that quarantines are old-fashioned and that they don’t believe in them.

According to BBC, the actual number of cases is believed to be much higher than what’s being reported by the Iranian authorities because the number of reports received from other cities around Iran suggests this.
