There are some things you just don’t say in an aeroplane because if you do, you might end up in a lot of trouble.
One fine example is the B word. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, then good for you.
And amidst the spread of the Wuhan virus that has claimed the lives of over 600 people and spread to over 31,000 people, another no-go word has cropped up:
Man Joked About Wuhan Virus in Plane to for Instagram; Plane Had to Make Emergency Landing After That
These days, we try our utmost best not to cough in public lest someone thinks that we’re infected with the Wuhan virus.
It’s pretty much a no brainer that you shouldn’t let people think that you have the Wuhan virus onboard an aircraft.
Unfortunately, this guy did not get the memo.
A 28-year-old musician named James Potok thought it would be a great idea for his public image if he filmed himself screaming that he was infected with the novel coronavirus on a plane that had 243 passengers.
He shouted, “Can I get everybody’s attention please. I just came back from Hunan province, the capital of the coronavirus. I’m not feeling too well. Thank you.”
The flight from Toronto to Jamaica had no choice but to turn back and make an emergency landing.
He later clarified and said that “it was simply a joke” and that he just wanted to go viral on Instagram by pulling the prank off.
The only thing it got him was a direct ticket off the aircraft as he was escorted off the plane in a mask and gloves that were given to him by the airline staff.
Because of his ‘joke’ Potok was arrested and charged with mischief.
It also greatly inconvenienced the other passengers as the aeroplane had to turn back and a second flight had to be cancelled.
Despite the consequences, he still believes that his misbehaviour was just a small matter that was blown out of proportion.
‘It would be something else if I said “hey guys I have a bomb strapped to me, I have a weapon on me”, people blew it out of proportion. To me it was simply a joke.”
He also mentioned that he was shocked that nobody laughed.
