New & Good-As-New Notes Available in 40 POSB Pop-Up ATMs from 9 Jan to 24 Jan 2020

Chinese New Year is coming, and if you’re of a certain age, you’d most probably dread it.

If you’re married, you would be giving money to people whom you just see once a year, or worse, maybe just once in your lifetime.

If you’re not, you’d be faced with nasty aunties and uncles who would pester you to settle down every single year.

I’ve no solution for your perils, but if you belong to the former, then this article might just help a little.

Lest you’re not aware, it’s auspicious to slot new notes into angbao. The logic’s the same for New Year Clothes: it’s the new year so everything has to be new.

But unless printing money is no longer illegal, you’d have to settle for new notes from the banks.

Since 2015, POSB has pop-up ATMs all across Singapore to let married couples and bosses draw new notes so they won’t cause an overcrowd in their outlets.

This year’s no exception.

New & Good-As-New Notes Available in 40 POSB Pop-Up ATMs from 9 Jan to 24 Jan 2020

Starting 9 January, DBS/POSB customers will be able to get new and good-as-new notes at 40 POSB pop-up ATMs across 20 community clubs islandwide. Customers will also be able to reserve time slots for new notes exchange via DBS’ online reservation system. These services will be available to all DBS and POSB customers from 9 to 24 January 2020.

You’d be able to withdraw CNY new notes in sums of SGD 100 (SGD 2 x 50), SGD 300 (SGD 10 x 30), SGD 500 (SGD 50 x 10) and SGD 600 (SGD 10 x 20 + SGD 50 x 8).

All POSB new notes pop-up ATMs are accessible 24 hours daily, except for those at Chong Pang and Teck Ghee Community Club, which will be available from 9am to 9.30pm daily. POSB ambassadors will be on hand to assist customers at various new notes pop-up ATM locations from 9 to 24 January, 9am to 9pm.

Of course, if you still want to do it the traditional way, you can still go to any branch to change your old notes to those sparkling new notes. However, do note that you can’t do that in DBS Marina Bay Sands branch and DBS Woodlands Service Centre branch.

If you would like to buy money with money online instead, you can also reserve the notes via their online reservation system, which you can indicate your preferred dates and timings to collect at a branch. To do so, visit go.dbs.com/sg-cnynotes.

Cute Angbaos to Promote the Bank for You to Use

Just like all petrol station, supermarkets and banks, DBS is also giving two sets of angbaos to you when you collect or withdraw the new notes. One interesting thing is that they’re made of environmentally friendly paper derived from sustainable sources, because #ClimateChange

And to make Greta Thunberg even happier, DBS will also have recycling bins at their branches for used angbaos from 28 January 2020, which is done in partnership with Tay Paper Recycling.
