There’s no telling why bad things happen to good people. But in the real world, it most certainly does.
In an unfortunate accident, a GrabFood delivery rider died after his motorcycle crashed into a truck in Gambas Avenue on Friday.
The motorcyclist was a 42-year-old man and he was pronounced dead by a paramedic at the scene.
The police were notified of the accident between the truck and the motorcycle in Gambas Avenue towards Woodlands Avenue 8 at around 11.50am.

I’m pretty sure that you’ve already seen the pictures of the accident scene on your social media.
In the widely circulated photo, you can see a police tent next to a motorcycle lying on its side on the road.
Squint a little and you’ll also spot the GrabFood delivery bag that’s attached to the motorcycle.
It breaks my heart that this man was just trying to make a living when the incident occurred.
The truck, on the other hand, has the logo of waste management company 800 Super.
Who Is The Victim
The GrabFood delivery rider who died in the accident was juggling two jobs just to support his family of 3. He leaves behind his wife and his 11-year-old daughter.
His name is Mr Phang Wei Sum and he’s a Singapore permanent resident hailing from Ipoh (Malaysia) who has been working in Singapore for more than a decade.
He had a full-time job as an electronic engineering company but decided to become a GrabFood rider just a short one month ago to earn more money for his family.
This happened after his wife fell sick and could no longer work.
His wife said, “He was a good husband and father who never smoked or drank alcohol. He cared a lot for his family.”
His family has since claimed his body from the morgue and will bring it over to Ipoh where the funeral will take place.
It is understood that a representative from GrabFood is in contact with the family to render help. We sincerely hope that his family will be cared for.
