Former S’pore Actress Lin Liyun Passed Away at the Age of 58

Back in the days of SBC and TCS, celebrities climbed up the ladder with their outstanding acting skills and not through their looks or luck.

And these celebrities had to go through acting classes by the then SBC before they could even take any role on the small screen.

It has produced talents like Chen Liping, Lin Meijiao and many other veteran actors and actresses.

And if you’re old enough, you’d also remember Lin Liyun.

Unfortunately, it’s reported today that the veteran actress has just passed away at the age of 58.

Lin Liyun, who started her acting career in 1981 at the age of mere 20, has passed away at the age of 58 due to an illness.

While it’s not revealed what caused her death, the vertex actress was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy, a neurodegenerative disorder that cause degeneration of neurons in the brain.

The condition is usually fatal as the average lifespan of patients who first experienced symptoms would experience sudden death or death caused by infections in six to ten years, though a few patients have survived to twelve years.

Lin had to use a wheelchair since 2014, four years after her diagnosis.

The ex-actress hadn’t been active on the small screen since the 1990s, but she did play small roles occasionally, like Reunion Dinner (团圆饭) in 2009 and The Oath (行医) in 2011.

Back in the 1980s, she was one of the pioneers who had acted alongside many dramas with other veterans like the late Huang Wenyong.

While she has kept her life private so far, it was revealed in a 2015 interview that she had three children.

Just three months ago, another veteran actor, Bai Yan, passed away at the age of 100.
