KFC S’pore Introducing Sour Cream & Onion Chicken And Bolognese Cheese Fries Tomorrow (20 Nov)

Here’s the basics of frying chicken: You roll the chicken in a batter, then you deep fry that poor fowl in oil.

The batter is generally three things, of which all are technically optional:

  1. Flour
  2. Egg
  3. Some crispy goodness thing, like breadcrumbs.

Replace the flour with rice flour and remove the breadcrumbs, you get something similar to Korean Fried Chicken. Replace the breadcrumbs with something like biscuits, you get something like Fuxiang’s biscuit fried chicken.

Knowing that swapping your ingredients is possible is the first step to culinary nirvana. If we can swap breadcrumbs for biscuit, what else can we do?

How about… sour cream and onion-flavored chicken?

For the fellow kitchen geniuses out there: we can rest a little. Cause on 20 Nov 2019

KFC Sour Cream & Onion Chicken (S$3.60 each, S$8.95 For 2-piece Meal)

That’s right baby.

On 17 Nov 2019, KFC released this image on their Facebook:

Now here’s the sad news: this isn’t the announcement for a fried chicken flavoured potato chips.

Good news. It’s the announcement for this baby right here:

It’s exactly what you think it is. KFC fried chicken (Kentucky Fried Chicken Fried Chicken?) with crushed nacho chips and then sprinkled with sour cream and onion seasoning.

KFC stole my darn idea! Great minds think alike, and how can we turn away the new creation made by the only Colonel we need in our lives?

As a wise man once said, make fried chicken, not war. It is from there that fried chicken achieved world peace. Or was that only in my imagination?

But we’re not done yet.

Bolognese Cheese Fries (S$4.95)

Pasta goes with Bolognese sauce. Pasta is just a carb. Fries are just a carb. Therefore… replace pasta with fries.

Genius. KFC fries topped with bolognese sauce made with minced chicken and then finished with KFC’s signature cheese sauce.

I haven’t even reached the best news of the article and I’m already breathing heavily.

And I’m not breathing heavily because I’m running in anticipation of the calories. I’m ready for my next face stuffing session with the old man in the white suit.
