13YO Vietnamese Girl Goes Blind In Right Eye After Nose Job Was A Total Failure

Previously, we talked about a China lady who did double eyelid surgery and ended up not being able to close her eyes.

We have also heard instances where there was malpractice at the clinics that unsuspecting women went to and ended up losing their lives.

Well, this time, it’s about this 13-year-old girl from Vietnam.

Just like any other girl at that age, we are all just trying to look pretty. And our standard of pretty is usually what media portrays it to be. We are told to look a certain way and if we’re not, we are deemed as ugly.

Of course, there are a lot more preaches about self-love these days, but we can’t deny the fact that society’s standard of perfection is still being imposed on many of us.

Backstory

According to the 13-year-old girl’s family, she hasn’t liked her natural nose ever since she was born. And as a result, she had been contemplating a nose job.

Yes, at 13 years old.

On 21 October, Monday, she decided to go to a local spa in Yen Bai province for nose filler injections – a procedure where the nose is reshaped after injecting hyaluronic acid into it.

This was it. She was finally going to get the dream nose that she wants.

When I was a 13-year-old, I was confined to the walls of my own home. “Why would a 13-year-old need a spa for?” my mom would probably ask if I ever brought it up.

However, she later claimed that she didn’t have the intention of doing a nose job initially, but was convinced by the spa owner when she was told that she could pay the medical fees of $2 million Vietnamese dong (~S$117) by instalments.

Seeing as to how this seemed like the best offer ever, she took it.

The Procedure

About half an hour into the procedure, she started to feel pain in her right eye. This was coupled with nausea and a headache.

Well, anyone in the right mind would have known that this was a cause for concern.

I mean, you do your nose and your eyes hurt. Simi sai?

She tried to look around but when she realised that her sight was starting to deteriorate, she decided that it was time to call her family so that they could bring her to the hospital.

According to doctor Than Trong Tuy, the hyaluronic acid that was injected into her nose for the procedure had travelled to her eye and blocked a blood vessel.

This cut off oxygen supply to her retina, thus causing her blindness in her right eye. Her forehead and nose also had symptoms of necrosis which is essentially tissue death.

Her doctor also said that she is currently undergoing treatment but there is a very low chance of her ever regaining her sight.

Sadly, even though it is perfectly alright if you would like to do plastic surgery because it is your own personal right to do so, you should always do your research beforehand and only undergo procedures at licensed clinics and hospitals.

Anywhere that offers too-good-to-be-true prices should already ring warning bells in your head.
