McNugget Fan Found a Frozen Nugget Brand That Tastes 98% Like The Real McNuggets

After the announcement of McDonald’s not reopening on 5 May 2020, the world saw dark times.

A poet took upon himself to express the depression felt within everybody’s heart:

Lest you can’t read:

Macdonalds….. it is with a heavy heart than I must tell you how affected I am by your closure. Now my Netflix nights & movie nights are soul less. My days are bleak with nothing to look forward to and my night suppers consist of soggy noodles that I cook myself.

KFC , Popeyes and Jollibee can’t even come close to holding a candle to McWings. BK & Mos Burger is nothing to the legendary double McSpicy.

When you first announced closure , it was like my heart was slightly torn but I had great hopes you would open again on May 5, but now , I’m devastated , this is a travesty, my weekly Macs meal since my secondary school days ?

As sad as I am , I understand your good intentions , as much as it breaks my heart , I know it’s best for us both. Till we meet again , McSpicy and me, in holy matrimony , to the toilet in the morning ❤️

It’s beautiful.

But something even more beautiful… is the vigilante superhero who named himself Rice Cooker Man discovering the brand of McNuggets that McDonald’s probably uses.

Said to Be 98% Similar

Is this what hope looks like?

In his post, he wrote:

I think I might have found the supplier to McDonalds’ McNuggets.

Ever since the news that McDonalds has to be closed, I’ve been searching the best replacement for one of my beloved small bites, McNuggets.

I’ve tasted so many brands and I’ve concluded that this brand, Freezepak has 98% similarities to McNuggets.

The smell, the taste, even the shape resembles McNuggets.

Why not 100%? Because the mouth feel is abit different, probably because our home frying cannot reach Mac’s fryers’ temperature.

As a self-proclaimed McNugget connoisseur, I approve this Freezepak nuggets with ????.

In fact, I finished 1 pack of it (1kg) the day I bought it.

I don’t know about you guys, but if he finished 1 kg of nuggets and calls himself a McNugget connoisseur, I’m calling him the real deal.

He Also Revealed The Prices Supermarkets Sell It

NTUC is selling them at $7.95 per 1kg pack.

Sheng Siong is selling them at $6.95 per 1kg pack.

Songfish.com.sg is selling them for $7 per 1kg pack.

But left a reminder to be kind and not hoard <3

Please don’t hoard ah.

Share the love with others ❤️

From here, we can see the ingredients for FreezePak nuggets are Chicken, Water, Flour (Wheat, Maize, Rice), Vegetable Oil, Salt, Raising Agents (E450, E506), Spices, Sodium Tripolyphosphate (E451), Wheat Starch, Whey Powder, Modified Tapioca Starch (E1420).

What does this mean? It means we can head over to the McDonald’s website and check the ingredients list for McNuggets.

Which… unfortunately doesn’t include it.

The United State’s McDonald’s does list it, though I suspect the recipe they use is different:

Ingredients: White Boneless Chicken, Water, Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil), Enriched Flour (Bleached Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Bleached Wheat Flour, Yellow Corn Flour, Vegetable Starch (Modified Corn, Wheat, Rice, Pea, Corn), Salt, Leavening (Baking Soda, Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Calcium Lactate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Spices, Yeast Extract, Lemon Juice Solids, Dextrose, Natural Flavors.

The US probably has a different supplier, judging from ingredients like corn and lemon juice solids. The country of origin for FreezePak’s nuggets are said to be Thailand.

But here’s something very important I discovered. In this video where McDonald’s Canada shows us how McNuggets are made, 1:45 in, the guide says, “And then the chicken McNuggets shapes are covered with a light batter, and covered by a second thicker batter called tempura.”

Tempura? Hmm where did we see this before?

Let me show you, on the cover of FreezePak:

We haven’t managed to confirm whether the ingredients in Freezepak nuggets and McNuggets are the same, but we did confirm that the methods used to make them are the same.
