June is coming to an end and the cases don’t seem to go down.
As of 12pm today (25 Jun), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 20 new cases of COVID-19 infection.
15 of them are community cases, with 3 of them unlinked. The other 5 are imported cases.
This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 62,513.
Based on yesterday’s figures, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 93 cases in the week before to 92 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 13 cases in the week before to 22 cases in the past week.
Unlinked Cases Reported on 24 June Include Changi General Hospital Worker
The good news is that we have one fewer unlinked case than the day before.
The bad news is that one of them is from a hospital.
The two cases are:
- a 78-year-old Singaporean woman who is a retiree
- a 35-year-old Singaporean man who works as a porter at Changi General Hospital (CGH)
The CGH porter is asymptomatic, and was detected when he tested positive for COVID-19 on 23 June as part of Rostered Routine Testing (RRT).
His earlier tests from RRT – the last being on 8 June – were all negative for COVID-19 infection.
He has tested preliminarily positive for the Delta variant, and is pending further confirmatory tests.
His serology test result is negative for the N antigen, which suggests the presence of early infection.
He has completed his vaccination regimen, having received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on 14 January, and his second dose on 4 February.
318 Active Cases
There are currently 136 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 4 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
182 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
35 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
