95 COVID-19 Cases Today (4 Aug); 92 Are Community Cases With 30 of Them Unlinked

It sure looks like we’re heading towards 2-digit daily community cases nowadays.

As of 12pm today (4 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 95 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

92 of them are community cases.

Of the community cases, 30 are currently unlinked. Amongst the cases, 1 is a senior above 70 who is unvaccinated and is at risk of serious illness.

Based on yesterday’s number, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 967 cases in the week before to 799 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 173 cases in the week before to 254 cases in the past week.

The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 77.9 and 36.3 respectively.

8 New Clusters Reported Yesterday (3 August), Including 1 at CGH

The Ministry of Health (MOH) closed a cluster at CGH on 31 July, which had 20 cases.

Naturally, given all that we and the hospital have been through, it would have been nice if the coronavirus avoided ever coming near CGH again.

But of course, it didn’t do that.

A new CGH cluster has formed, and all of its three cases are from a ward.

“These cases are not linked to the previous CGH cluster which has been officially closed by Ministry of Health on Jul 31,” MOH said.

As a precautionary measure, the hospital will not allow residents to visit affected patients.

Other operations at the hospital will continue, however, and patients can safely continue with their outpatient appointments, CGH said.

Besides the CGH cluster, 7 other clusters were identified. One was linked to construction firm Kian Hap Construction, which has six infections.

The other six clusters involve individual cases and have three to four cases each.

22 more cases were added to the Jurong Fishery Port cluster, which now has 1,097 cases. It remains our largest active cluster.

592 Cases in Hospitals; 7,703,746 COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

592 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 37 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 7 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU). 6 amongst these 44 cases are fully vaccinated. Of these, 4 require oxygen supplementation while 2 require ICU care as they have underlying medical conditions.

31 seniors above 60 years, of whom 27 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill.

As of yesterday, there are currently 100 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 1,097 infections.

As of 2 August 2021, 63% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 77% has received at least one dose. In total, we have administered a total of 7,703,746 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,321,223 individuals, with 3,505,975 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
