Drunk 50YO Man Joins Search Party to Look for Himself in the Forest

It’s always worrying when someone goes missing.

More than anything, it’s the uncertainty that drives you mad – they could simply be hanging out with their friends and lost their phone, or something bad could have happened to them.

Beyond a certain point, you would alert the authorities and organise a search team to look for them.

So, there are you are, scouring a forest, thinking of all the horrible things that could have happened to your dear friend when you realise that he’s standing right next to you, aiding in your search.

It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Well, truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.

Drunk 50YO Man Joins Search Party to Look for Himself in the Forest

Beyhan Mutlu must have had one hell of a night out, because he ended up joining his own search party after drinking with his friends.

The incident, which occurred in Turkey, has amused netizens all over the globe.

The 50-year-old had been drinking with his friends on Tuesday (28 Sep), and wandered into a forest at some point, as we all do when we’re drunk.

When he failed to return home after several hours, his wife and friends grew concerned and alerted the local authorities in Bursa province, where they lived.

A Search Team was Organised

Neighbour and other local residents then organised a search team to look for the drunk 50-year-old.

Mutlu later stumbled upon the search team and decided to join them, not knowing who they were looking for. The conversation might have gone something like this:

Mutlu: Hey, who are you looking for?

Search Team Member: Oh, just some drunk guy who wandered into a forest

Mutlu: Ah, drunk guys these days… Okay, I’ll help.

Mutlu evidently had no idea that he was the one the search team was looking for, and only found out when the team started calling out his name.

“I am here,” he replied, which must have both confused, angered, and relieved all those who were looking for him.

It was at that point that the police, who were also searching for him, had realised that the missing man they were looking for had joined his own search party.

The authorities subsequently took a statement from the “missing” man, before driving him home.

“Don’t punish me too harshly, officer. My father will kill me,” Mutlu reportedly told them.

It’s unclear if the 50-year-old was fined.

As I said, truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
