While most viewers of the hit South Korean show Squid Game have walked away as fans, some people have taken this fanaticism to new, insane heights.
Ask the question “How much do you like Squid Game?” online, and you might get answers like these:
Fan 1: I like Squid Game so much that I’ve watched the show 16 times and have written seven volumes of fan fiction.
Fan 2: I’m such a big fan of Squid Game that I’ve started to learn South Korean just so I can watch the show in its original language
Mr Beast: I liked Squid Game enough to spend over S$4.5 million to recreate a real-life Squid Game just for a YouTube video.
Fan 1 & 2: Okay, this guy is nuts.
It sounds crazy, but it’s absolutely true.
Mr Beast Spent Over S$4.5 Million Recreate a Real-Life Squid Game for a YouTube Video
Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast on YouTube, spent a whopping S$4.5 million to construct all the Squid Game sets for his latest YouTube video.
The video has garnered over 51 million viewers in just a day.
Fans of Mr Beast must have known this was coming, as the YouTuber had promised to recreate the show in real life and has been teasing snippets of his sets online:

Perhaps what made the video so popular isn’t just that it gives “Squid Game” more of the content they were hungry for, but that it actually pitted hundreds of contestants against each other in the game and offered a large reward.
A USD$456,000 reward, that is.
While Donaldson did use some of his own money, the construction was also partly funded by Supercell, the video game company behind Brawl Stars.

The video is 25 minutes long and has all the same South Korean children’s games that viewers now know intimately.
Of course, no one gets shot or killed if they lose, just eliminated (from the game). In the tug-of-war challenge and the glass stepping stones, for instance, losers fall into a big tub of foam, instead of down to the ground.
As many commenters noted, the sets look identical to the ones in the show:
Just like in the show, there are 456 contestants in Mr Beast’s Squid Game, and only one can come out on top.
