Compared to Thursday when Singapore reported no community case, it hasn’t looked exactly promising since then.
Yesterday, 6 community cases were reported, and 5 of them were unlinked. 1 of them even worked in a camera shop.
Today, 2 were reported and both were unlinked.
In MOH’s evening report, it’s revealed that the first community case, a 63-year-old Singaporean, had been tested after being admitted to a hospital for another medical condition.
The second community case is a 56-year-old who had her symptoms on 19 August 2020. She was detected under MOH’s enhanced community testing to test all individuals aged 13 and above who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection (ARI) at first presentation to a doctor.
The 56-year-old had apparently gone to work at Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central after symptoms onset.
So far, ITE hasn’t responded to this case, but lest you’re not aware, the school is alternating between Home-Based Learning (HBL) and On-Campus Training on a weekly basis.
Numbers Still Goody Based on Average Number of Cases
Despite the bad numbers in the last two days, as of 22 August 2020, on average, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of 2 cases per day in the past 2 weeks.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of 1 case per day in the past 2 weeks.
Also, an additional 269 cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 53,920 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 81 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 2,238 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19. 27 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
Below is the updated list of places infectious COVID-19 cases have been for more than 30 minutes:
As usual, there is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been, and you just need to monitor your health if you’ve been to these places during these timings.
