On 17 July 2023, two scandalous affairs between high-profile politicians in Singapore was came to light.
First was the PAP’s Tan Chuan-Jin and Cheng Li Hui.
And before we had time to digest the news, the news broke about Worker’s Party (WP) Leon Perera and Nicole Seah, both married but not to each other.
When a 15-second clip showing a man, who looks like Mr Perera, stroking the hand of a woman who looks like Ms Seah circulated online, WP said they’ll investigate the matter.
However, a source claims that the party knew about the pair’s affair since 2021, or earlier.
Anonymous Source Claims Pritam Singh Knew About Leon Perera’s & Nicole Seah’s Alleged Affair Since 2021 Or Earlier
According to the anonymous source, Mr Perera was a mentor to Ms Nicole Seah, and the pair met often.
As time passes, however, the pair allegedly grew closer and their relationship, increasingly intimate.
The source said he was aware of the pair’s illicit relationship since mid-2020.
He had witnessed the pair entering hotels and hugging each other in public. He also saw other sorts of intimate behaviour between them.
The WP leadership, including Mr Pritam Singh, knew about the relationship either in late 2020 or early 2021, he claims.
However, the leadership did nothing, as far as the source knew.
It was only when the video clip leaked that the WP leadership took action.
WP Looking into Viral Video of Leon Perera & Nicole Seah Allegedly Behaving Intimately
On 17 July, a silent video started trending, showing a man who bears a striking resemblance to Aljunied GRC Member of Parliament Leon Perera.
He’s seen having wine with a woman who looks a lot like Nicole Seah at an outdoor eatery.
In a Facebook post, WP acknowledged being “aware of a video clip circulating online today that suggests an inappropriate exchange between two senior Party members.
“The Party is currently looking into the matter and will comment when we have the facts. The Party also expects all its members to fully own and account for their behaviour.”
If the allegations are true, it can be seen that the PAP and WP are truly two sides of the same coin.
The affairs were revealed around the same time, and both leaderships knew about the affairs years ago.
And judging by WP’s statements, it seem Ms Seah and Mr Perera may be required to vacate their seats.
After all, when our bosses told us to take responsibility, they’re basically telling you to go, no?
