Crypto influencers are on the rise, joining the gang of “finance bros” that we know.
However, one of these finance bros was recently lost.
He was crypto influencer Fernando Perez Algaba, found dismembered in a stream in Argentina.
Here is what happened.
Crypto Influencer Found Dead and Dismembered in Argentina
Earlier this week, several media outlets reported on the death of Mr Fernando Perez Algaba.
He was a crypto influencer with over 920,000 followers on his Instagram account.
Believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, Mr Algaba’s dismembered body was found in Argentina, where he was believed to be on holiday.
His legs and forearm were found in a red suitcase in a stream in Buenos Aires.
The New York Post reported that a whole arm was later found in the stream.
His torso and head were then found after a search was conducted, reported El Pais, a Spanish news publication.
Morbidly enough, his dismembered body would not have been discovered if it were not for the children who discovered the suitcase while playing.
Although his body was dismembered, the authorities managed to identify Mr Algaba by his multiple tattoos and his fingerprints.
Based on images shared on his Instagram account, Mr Algaba had extensive tattoo sleeves on both arms.
Well, identifying your body could be one reason you use to convince your parents why you should be able to get a tattoo.
An autopsy also showed that Mr Algaba was shot before his body was chopped into pieces.
While investigations into the reasons behind the brutal killing of Mr Algaba are still underway, the New York Post reported that he may have been killed over the debts he owed.
This comes as a surprise, given the flashy life Mr Algaba showcased on his public Instagram account.
In this post, Mr Algaba is seen wearing a gold chain.
In another post, he is seen to be jet skiing and living a life of luxury.
Yet another post shows some luxury cars.
However, there may have been some hint of trouble brewing.
Mr Algaba’s recent social media post featured some “disturbing and chilling” content, as described by MailOnline.
One of the messages had an audio recording which mentioned “evil people thinking of destroying you” and how it is not possible to “escape from problems” with the said problems “[following] us”.
