Over the past few days, you may have noticed large groups gathering at touristy spots in Singapore with all their phones out, taking photos.
What’s going on, you may ask?
The reason is none other than superstars, of course.
Divas Hit the Road in Singapore
The Chinese travel reality TV show Divas Hit the Road – Good Friends is filming here, featuring famous Chinese and Taiwanese stars.
The show usually gathers seven to eight stars to travel to different cities around the world on a limited budget while they bond with each other during the trip.
The show’s episodes in Singapore will feature the following eight celebrities:
- Gulnezer Bextiyar
- Qin Lan
- Jiang Shuying
- Han Dongjun
- Zhao Zhaoyi
- Chen Bolin
- Dany Lee
- Ding Chengxin
First Sightings
Gulnezer was first spotted by netizens at Marina Bay Sands on 2 May.
The rest of the cast (except Ding Chengxin, who joined them later) were spotted at Changi Airport the following day, causing fans to gather around the group.
They were later seen at Jewel Canopy Park, where they were spotted playing at the bouncing net as they explored the garden.
The cast were also seen at the Singapore Flyer later that evening.
3 May – Eminent Frog Porridge & Seafood
The cast made a stop at Michelin Bib Gourmand eatery Eminent Frog Porridge & Seafood at Geylang that night.
The cast attracted a large crowd who gathered around the members to watch them eat and chat.
Many onlooking fans had their phones out to take pictures and videos of the stars, capturing their good looks.
3 May – Ola Beach Club
On the same night, the cast were also spotted at Sentosa when they dined at Ola Beach Club at Fort Siloso Beach.
They were seen taking a walk around Sentosa after their meal that night and reportedly spent the night at Hotel Ora at Resorts World Sentosa.
4 May – Adventure Cove
The next day, the cast members were seen splashing around and having fun at Adventure Cove.
Kudos to the camera crew for keeping their equipment safe while filming the cast.
Footage of the cast there has prompted netizens to quickly scour the internet to deduce what the cast members were wearing, uploading their findings on Xiaohongshu.
The excitement didn’t end there, though, as the seven were soon spotted at yet another touristy place.
4 May – Singapore Zoo
On the same day, the cast stopped by the Singapore Zoo.
Carrying umbrellas, the cast were seen at the Malayan Tiger Exhibit and observing giraffes. They also visited other exhibits during their guided tour.
Good thing it only rained heavily when they were at the Singapore Zoo and not when they were still splashing around in Adventure Cove.
The seven cast members snapped a few photos at the tortoise exhibit to commemorate their experience at the Singapore Zoo.
According to a netizen, Qin Lan, Dany, and Zhaoyi were also seen at the zoo’s souvenir shop.
4 May – Jumbo Seafood Riverwalk
After a tiring day at Adventure Cove and the zoo, the team settled down at Jumbo Seafood Riverwalk and munched on local delights in a private room.
Because let’s face it: a trip to Singapore isn’t a trip to Singapore if you’ve not tried the chilli crab at Jumbo Seafood.
Jumbo Seafood is known for its fresh seafood cooked to perfection, and it’s highly likely the cast enjoyed Singapore Chilli Crab and/or Black Pepper Crab during their visit to the restaurant.
We’ll have to watch the episodes when they’re released to see what the stars think of our local food.
5 May – 328 Katong Laksa
How can you come to Singapore and not try the iconic 328 Katong Laksa, right?
The next day, the cast headed to 328 Katong Laksa at East Coast Road for breakfast and were later seen donning traditional Peranakan outfits.
They look pretty good, don’t you think?
5 May – Liao Fan Hawker Chan
The team was spotted later that evening heading to the famous chicken rice eatery Liao Fan Hawker Chan on Smith Street.
They were joined by Chinese idol-actor Ding Chengxin, who arrived in Singapore that afternoon.
6 May – Big Bus
What better way to tour Singapore than on a big bus that takes you to all the hot spots?
This is exactly what the cast did when they boarded a Big Bus which took them sightseeing around the garden city.
Big Bus Tours bring guests around Singapore to Instagram-worthy spots and iconic landmarks, complete with an open-air top deck on the bus for the best views during the tour.
6 May – Asylum Coffeehouse
Later that day, the seven cast members were seen at Asylum Coffeehouse.
As with the crew’s previous stops, this attracted a large crowd who gathered around to watch the filming.
7 May – Summerhouse Beach Club
The cast started the next day by soaking up some vitamin D at Summerhouse Beach Club at Siloso beach, Sentosa.
After relaxing at the beach club, the team went to have some fun racing each other in karts.
7 May – Skyline Luge
The group moved to the nearby Skyline Luge to have run racing each other down the tracks, feeling like drivers in a Mario Kart game.
This episode should probably be interesting, I hope they attached cameras to the individual luges so we can see everything from the stars’ point of views.
7 May – Koon Seng Road
After all the fun, the cast continued sight-seeing and took a trip to Koon Seng Road.
For those unfamiliar with it, there’s a gorgeous stretch of colourful shophouses along Koon Seng Road.
It’s the perfect spot for pictures that capture the traditional heritage of Singapore.
The filming will reportedly continue until 9 May. Until then, fans are taking guesses on where the stars will head next.
My money’s on Lau Pa Sat because nowhere screams “tourist” like Lau Pa Sat. I’d be really impressed if they head to another hawker centre, though.
The broadcast date for their episodes in Singapore has not been announced, but other episodes of the stars in other countries are available on the China Hunan TV official YouTube channel.
