Don’t Say Bojio: Cook Real Curry Laksa in 5 Minutes With A1 Curry Laksa Noodle and Vermicelli

I think it’s no open secret that laksa stalls are pretty hard to find in our kopitiams now.

It’s not hard to see why.

To make a good bowl of laksa, you need about 11 different ingredients for a rempeh (spice mixture) to produce the umami bomb you experience in every sip of broth, about 5 more for the chilli paste to give it sweetness and a good dose of heat.

But that’s not even all the steps required.

You still need a good prawn stock that extracts all the essence of the prawn to produce just enough of the goody stuff equal to their weight, simmered for a good half an hour or more in order to reach peak prawn flavours.

We’re not done yet! We still haven’t talked about the toppings or the coconut milk, or the noodles.

You’re probably thinking, wah, so much hard work! How will my cravings for midnight laksa, or god forbid, cravings for laksa overseas, be satisfied?

What if… I told you that those exact cravings can be satisfied easily with this exact A1 Curry Laksa Noodle and Vermicelli?

Scratch Everything I Said About Cooking Laksa, We Did It In 5 Minutes

If you got any clues about the state of our kitchens in Goody Feed from being a loyal reader, then you’d know that our pantry consists of a half functioning microwave, a fridge with spoiled milk and probably a hobo that lives inside because we haven’t opened it in 10 years, and not even a kettle in sight.

Yes, even in that state, we managed to cook and produce these beauties, right here:

All in the span of 5 minutes.

But hold on, don’t clap for us.

Because the one doing all the work isn’t the one with the wok, but these packets of goodies:

It’s pretty easy, just cook the noodles in boiling water for 3 minutes, then add the paste and seasoning, then mix well.

Friendly Suggestion When You Actually Cook It: Use Less Water, Then Adjust

Now, if you’re as impatient as we are, then you’re probably already searching online to order the goodies.

So here’s a pro tip: start with just enough water to cook the noodles (enough to cover them), then adjust later to your taste.

And because we want to show off our cooking skillz, here’s some goody pics:

Just put the noodles in boiling water.

Cook for 3 minutes…

And then put the seasonings. Opening the packet revealed the strong smell of lemongrass and the other spices.

Believe it or not, we’re actually done.

And it’s for good reason that we felt damn proud of our work here.
