Today, we spotlight Yishun again, but not for the reasons you’re thinking.
In a rare moment of triumph for Singapore’s ghetto, today we’re spotlighting Yishun because of a sweet auntie selling handmade products at an Yishun pasar malam.
The best part? Her products sell for as low as $1.
Elderly Sells Handmade Products at Yishun Pasar Malam, Including Card Holders and Bags
Are you looking for a cool gift to get for your friends? Why not head down to the pasar malam outside Yishun MRT to shop for affordable accessories?
An elderly at the pasar malam sells a wide array of handmade products at prices as low as $1.
On Friday (25 August), a video posted by TikTok user @azulacinta, known as Azula, caught the eyes of many thrifty Singaporeans.
The TikTok showcases the products sold by the auntie at the pasar malam.
The auntie sells a cardholder with a rat design—quick Yishun reference, I suppose.
Other products include several beaded bags, which look like the perfect accessory on a day out with your girls.
There’s even a bag with a Hello Kitty design; you could get it for your younger cousins or siblings! (or yourself, we don’t judge)
That’s not all.
The auntie also sells several beaded charms, one of which we believe presidential hopeful Tharman would love—it’s a pineapple.
Your grandmother would probably love it too lah. Heng, ong, huat!
Among the selection is also a variety of brightly-coloured pouches, some with minimalistic patterns and others with slightly more quirky designs, such as this one with what appears to be two ducks.
The auntie also sells cardholders with different designs, including one with the Singapore flag, an Among Us design, and yup, you guessed it, yet another ong lye design.
Looks like we know who auntie will be voting for this polling day.
The auntie also sells a beaded tissue box with a Hello Kitty design on the back.
Now you know what to get for your girlfriend’s birthday.
Bracelets Selling for $1 Each
Perhaps the best part of this auntie’s store is the box of bracelets at the front of the table.
They may look expensive, but they sell for just $1 each; that’s a more than reasonable price.
The bracelets have all sorts of charms—from smiley faces to stars, you name it, the auntie has it.
If you’re still not sold on this store, wait until you hear how lovely this auntie is.
Azula purchased a rat cardholder, a purple bag, a pouch and a few bracelets. By right, her items should cost $62.
Yet, the auntie gave her a discount and charged her merely $60. The auntie even gave her a free gift—what looks to be a rabbit keychain.
Aww.
So what are you waiting for?
Head down to the pasar malam to support the auntie now! The pasar malam outside Yishun MRT will be there until 3 September.
