The COVID-19 situation has worsened in a matter of days, and there are now more than 335,400 people infected with the virus and more than 14,600 deaths. Even Singapore has two deaths now.
However, if we look at the bright side of things, more than 97,500 people have recovered from the virus, which tells us that not all hope is lost!
And this is especially so after an 80-year-old Singaporean female COVID-19 patient recovers in record time.
80YO S’pore COVID-19 Patient Recovers In Record Time
This 80-year-old patient is also known as Case 311.
She had no recent travel history to the affected countries, but was infected with COVID-19 on 18 March and isolated at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
She was found to be linked to two other confirmed cases, Case 234 and Case 335. She is the family member of Case 234, who is then, in turn, the family member of Case 335.
And here’s the amazing part. When I say record time, I really mean it.
She was discharged on 22 March, just four days after she was confirmed to have been infected with the highly contagious and deadly virus.
This is really surprising considering the fact that COVID-19 is known to have a much stronger impact on the elderly, especially those with pre-existing medical conditions.
So congratulations to Case 311 for making a full recovery in such a short amount of time! Here’s wishing you good health and longevity!
And also thank you to all those who helped her make that recovery.
Not The Only Elderly To Have Recovered From COVID-19
Previously, we also wrote about the oldest COVID-19 patient who recovered in record time.
That patient is a 103-year-old Chinese woman, who took just six days to fully recover from the virus and be discharged from the hospital.
And here’s the shocking part.
She actually arrived at the hospital in a highly critical condition and could not even communicate with the staff.
But as you can tell, her determination helped her to beat the virus, along with the help of the healthcare workers.
And the second oldest COVID-19 patient is a 101-year-old Chinese man who spent about a week in the hospital.
Despite being a patient of heart failure, he beat all odds and made a full recovery, all because he wanted to get better soon so that he could go home and take care of his 92-year-old wife.
Not All Hope Is Lost
While the COVID-19 pandemic is getting worse, let’s remember that not all hope is lost yet.
There are many people who have made a full recovery as well.
With that said, we should all still be socially responsible and practise social distancing during this period to minimise the spread of the virus. After all, a small action goes a long way.
And while we’re all protecting ourselves by working or studying from home, please do not forget about the hard work put in by all the workers who are still risking their lives to ensure that daily activities can go on as per usual.
So if you can, do show your appreciation for them as well!
To all frontline workers, thank you for your service!
