Find it difficult to travel from Pasir Ris to Punggol? All that is about to change on 3pm, 17 November, when a new road opens next month.
Though you need to have your own vehicle lah.
This new road will serve as a link between the two towns and it will aid traffic flow on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) said the Land Transport Authority.
The Straits Times reports that this road is only one part of the expansion of the interchange between the TPE and Kallang-Paya Lebar (KPE) that is currently going on.
How Am I Affected?
Just a heads up but because of this interchange expansion, the current slip road from the KPE to TPE, towards the SLE, will be decommissioned at 5am on 9 November.
This means that after 5am that day, you will have to exit earlier at Exit 9c to use a new slip road to the TPE.
Here’s a video explaining the changes:
And here’s an overview, provided by LTA:
If you catch no balls, it means you’re not a Pasir Ris-er or a Punggolite.
What If I Forget?
Don’t worry if you can’t remember this right now, as there will be reminders via radio messages about the changes on the road network. You can get updates on this via LTA Traffic News.
If you aren’t a fan of listening to the radio, just keep your eyes peeled for instructions on the traffic signs that will be put up.
The Expanded Interchange
The expanded interchange will be completed by June 2021 and by then, it will be easier for residents to drive to and from the KPE and TPE.
LTA also states that this extended interchange will hopefully help aid traffic flow towards Punggol and within Punggol since the main goal of this project is to meet the traffic demands from the developments taking place in this area.
After all, anyone who stays in Punggol would know how crazy the traffic over there is during peak hours.
More roads just mean more convenience for us, so be sure to remember the date, 17 November and don’t gong gong and accidentally take the decommissioned roads.
