Singapore has seen its fair share of crime in recent years, from sexual assaults to a senseless murder wide in the open.
On Sept 2, a group of nine individuals ranging from the age of 13 to 24 allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old boy in Lengkok Bahru in the Redhill area.
The 15-year-old boy suffered multiple injuries and was taken to a hospital.
It is stated that the group assaulted the 15-year-old boy due to a past dispute.
Charged with Rioting
Nine of the attackers were charged with rioting while armed with a deadly weapon under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
This offense can see them being placed in prison for up to 10 years and caned.
They were arrested between 3 and 9 Sept with the help of police surveillance cameras and ground inquiries.
Weapons were also seized during their arrest. The weapon used during the assault is believed to be a custom Karambit knife.
Video on Facebook Shows Group Fleeing the Scene
In a video posted on Facebook by Singapore Incidents, the group of nine, who were all dressed in black, can be seen crossing the road from the bus stop and fleeing from the scene.
They can be seen walking nonchalantly despite the multiple stares given by the public.
