Are the various expenses of the holiday season causing your heart to ache? Do you long for quality time with your loved ones without the burden of spending a dime? Well, you’re in luck. You can now enjoy free admission to Singapore’s National Orchard Garden at the Botanic Gardens.

This fantastic offer is available from now until 1 January 2024, and it extends to Singaporeans, permanent residents, local students, work permit holders, and dependant pass holders.

Typically, an adult ticket for locals is priced at $5, which means you can save that hard-earned $5 and use it for other essential expenses, like bubble tea.

Don’t Miss Out on the Beautiful Sights

This Orchid Garden boasts an impressive collection of over 1000 species and 2000 hybrids, all meticulously displayed to enhance their natural beauty.

One of its highlights is the Tropical Montane Orchidetum where you can immerse yourself in the enchanting world of orchids and other plants, simulating the experience of ascending through a tropical montane forest.

For those seeking a cooler experience, the Sembcorp Cool House replicates a high-elevation montane forest with temperatures ranging from 16 to 23 degrees Celsius. Within this climate-controlled oasis, you’ll find a staggering 1000 orchid species and hybrids, a significant increase from their previous collection of 350 orchid species.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, researches are able to study rare orchids that are typically found at higher elevations. I guess the “cool” in “Cool House” not only refers to its temperature but also its role in facilitating research on rare orchids.

If you’re primarily interested in capturing Instagram-worthy moments, don’t forget to visit the Silver Arches Display, which offers stunning photo opportunities.

Need I say more?

Some orchids are even named after prominent figures, such as the late Lee Kuan Yew. The “Aranda Lee Kuan Yew,” for instance, is a hybrid orchid created by crossing a native orchid with another variety from Hawaii.

This orchid follows the lineage of the “Vanda Kwa Geok Choo,” named after Mr Lee’s late wife.
