Ahh… Disney.
The happiest place on earth where dreams come true.
As a kid, I’m sure many of us would have had the dream of visiting Disneyland because it’s such an iconic place, but of course, not all of us had the chance to because well, we don’t have one here in Singapore, and we would have to travel overseas if we wanted to go.
A lucky girl was brought to Disney World in Florida last year in October by her parents Lisa and Jacob Troyer for an entire week of fun.
I’m envious.
And we all know what October stands for.
So they got to see all their all-time favourite Disney characters dressed in Halloween costumes.
Everything was great fun and they definitely enjoyed themselves very much, posing for lots of photos with the Disney characters and taking tons of rides. That is until the last evening of the trip…
Dropped iPhone 11 Into A Lake
On the last evening of the trip, the family was waiting for a ferry boat ride. Wanting to keep her brand new iPhone 11 safe, she took it out from presumably her pocket and tried to put it in her bag.
But instead of being kept in the safety of her bag, it slipped out and fell into a lake called the Seven Seas Lagoon.
As someone living in the 21st century, I’m sure you would probably be able to imagine how she felt when she dropped her phone into the water.
All the photos taken, all the memories, all the data – gone just like that.
I would probably have cried there and then and tried to fish it out from the lake.
Gave It Up As Lost
Nevertheless, Lisa composed herself and since it was already late at night, she decided to just forgo her phone. She also convinced herself that she was never going to get back her phone and that the pictures that they took during the trip were gone forever.
The couple’s daughter, however, didn’t take it too well because the photos of her and Jack Skellington were gone and she’ll only have a memory of it.
When a Disney World employee heard that Lisa dropped her phone in the lake the following day, the employee told her that they actually have a team of scuba divers who goes down to the lake to retrieve lost items and that she would give her contact information to them.
She gave them her contact information, but after they left Disney World, she bought a new phone since she had already given up all hope that her phone wouldn’t be found again.
Disneyland, Where Dreams Do Come True
Two months later, Lisa got a call from Disney but she didn’t think too much of it because she thought they were telemarketers. That’s when she got a phone call from her father-in-law saying that the Disney employees actually succeeded in finding her phone and that they would be mailing it back to her.
I guess dreams do come true at Disneyland huh.
A few days later when she got her phone back, she was shocked to find out that her phone could still be used despite being submerged underwater for two whole months.
She shared, “I was able to retrieve all of the pictures from our Disney Halloween night, and besides some sand in my case and a little algae on the cover, the phone seems no worse for the wear.”
I mean I knew the iPhone 11 was water-resistant, but I didn’t know it was going to be this good.
It must have been like a miracle when her daughter found out that her photos with Jack Skellington were not gone after all.
I guess Disney does ensure that everyone leaves happy.
