Usually, GrabCars are pretty efficient.
They escort you to your location, you give them a 5-star rating, and they give you a thumbs up.
You know, the usual Grab works.
But it seems that once in a while, GrabCars can get pretty complicated as well.
As Alicia Keys so famously sang: “This car is on fire.”

Just yesterday (5 September), content platform The Bulletin Box posted an intriguing post on its Instagram platform.
In the video, a car could be seen bursting into flames on the side of a packed road.
The incident reportedly transpired on the Yio Chu Kang highway, at around 9:25 p.m. yesterday.
In the post, it was written that a group of passengers had hailed a Grab cab from Al Furno (East Coast Pte. Ltd.) Italian Restaurant. The group was said to be on the way to Yishun Avenue 1.
Halfway through their journey, however, they realised that there was excessive toxic smoke inside the car.
Sensing trouble, the passengers requested for the driver to park instantly.
Despite the latter’s efforts, it took some 40 to 50 seconds before he could find an “appropriate” parking spot: right before a divider on an expressway.
He had allegedly attempted to look for a shoulder lane to park the car, the right protocol in these circumstances.
They then proceeded to get out of the car.
Unfortunately, the right-side backseat door was jammed, but the other side was still valid. A few minutes after rushing out, the car began spitting fire, and soon burst into flames.

SCDF
The SCDF was notified, and they swiftly arrived at the scene.
With the help of a water jet, they managed to extinguish the fire.
How the fire erupted in the first place, however, is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that all the affiliated passengers, as well as the driver, are safe and sound.
The driver was even able to procure his valuables before the incident.
A kind individual had also reportedly picked the traumatised individuals up.
Prior Instances
This isn’t the first time that a vehicle from the taxi industry had mysteriously caught fire.
On 31 July, a taxi was seen ablaze along Jalan Anak Bukit, near Bukit Timah Plaza at around 5:40 pm.
Four SCDF officers who arrived in a “Red Rhino” could be seen extinguishing the taxi as black smoke emitted from it. The taxi driver was nowhere to be seen.
According to MS News, the fire was extinguished with a hose reel and a water jet.
Luckily, no one was injured but no one knew the cause of the incident as well. Investigations are ongoing.
What To Do If Your Car Catches Fire
Two of the most common causes of fiery vehicles are:
- Fuel leaks
- Electric system failures
You are able to tell if the fuel is leaking when you smell a strong scent of petrol while driving, hear odd sounds or feel a shaking or bouncing sensation in your vehicle (also known as rough idling), or have a poor fuel economy.
If that happens, quickly move your car to a road shoulder (if you’re on an expressway) and get out of your car. If you see mushrooms of smoke coming out from any part of your car, leave the car immediately.
Call 995 and ensure bystanders do not go near to kaypo why are there random mushroom clouds popping out from an abandoned vehicle.
