There have been multiple past cases where Golden Village (GV) has been allegedly accused of being infested with bed bugs.
I’m not sure what about GV that bed bugs like, but GV has probably been trying their best to get rid of these pesky little creatures.
GV In Plaza Sing Responds to Allegation of Bedbug Bites in Their Cinema
Cinema chain GV has confirmed that there were no evidence of bed bugs at its Plaza Singapura branch after a customer complained of bites.
According to Facebook user Jeanette Tan, she wrote a post (has been removed) on 27 December, claiming that her fiance had found bite marks on his right hand after watching the movie Ip Man 4 at GV Plaza on 20 December.
In her post, Ms Tan wrote that the bite marks became worse the next day. They then consulted with professionals, and were told that the bites were from bed bugs.
In response to the situation, GV had immediately blocked off the affected seats and activated its pest control unit to investigate if these pesky creatures are lurking around.
However, according to GV, the pest control unit found no evidence of bed bugs in the area. Thank goodness.
As a preventive measure, the affected theatre has since been disinfected. GV further added that pest control checks are conducted regularly at all of its cinemas.
The cinema operator stated, “we have always worked closely with our pest control unit and will continue to do so to see how we can improve on our cleaning processes.”
Bed Bugs
In case you don’t know what a bed bug is, it is a parasitic insect that feeds exclusively on blood. Bed bugs come out of their hiding places at night and feed on the exposed skin of the host without the person’s knowledge.
This is probably why the cinema is the perfect hiding place for bed bugs. It is dark, there is always a constant influx of new hosts for them to feed on, and you won’t even notice because you’ll be too engrossed in the movie.
Hence, with regular pest control checks conducted in their cinemas, hopefully GV won’t have to experience such complains again.
